Mark Cuban has expressed interest in signing a "Kobe Stopper" and Shandon is one of several on his list. I think it would be a good thing for us - let them have Shandon (who I would not re-sign anyway) and we keep Moochie.

"Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has acknowledged interest in Miami's
Bruce Bowen, Houston's Shandon Anderson and a couple defensive
specialists who would be much tougher to pry away from their current
teams: Sacramento's Doug Christie and Philadelphia's Aaron McKie. "

I wouldn't mind at all if Shandon signed with the Mav's. I think we can get the same production(if not better) out of Nate James(Duke) who went undrafted. Not to mention ALOT less expensive. He has championship experience , plays good D, and has a good J. These two players are so alike it's scary. James would also be ready to contribute right away. I hope you read this Rudy. [IMG]

What does Shandon Anderson and "Kobe Stopper" have to with each other? I wish people would pick a topic and stick with it.

I dont think Rudy read this but the Golden State warriors did, he will be playing summer leauge with the warriors. . . I think I am not real sure now. but I do know another team has them on their summer leauge roster.

Since when is Shandon a "Kobe stopper"? He did a real good job of that this year didnt he. . . [IMG]

I dont know how u can consider a kobe-stopper, a person that lets kobe score like 20 or so and then scores 0.

As far as a Shandon replacement - Felipe Lopez. I doubt that he can maintain the .565 from the 3pt arc as he did at Minnesota, but he is supposed to be a good defender. Right now he looks cheap, a reasonable price for limited minutes.

Is he a free agent?? if he is that would be a great pickup for the rockets IMO. he is shandon anderson. really think about it. decent defensive player with a develping offensive game. plus he will come a lot cheaper and give us a nice option with our guards

drpepper: Mind saying why you think we could expect the same production? Most 2nd round picks NEVER work out at all. Shandon has proven he's a legit rotation player for a good team (the Jazz). Why would some undrafted Dukie be as good or better?

This is the same Nate James that got beaten out for a roster spot by Ira Newble and Derrick Dial.

According to realgm.com Felipe Lopez is a free agent who made $1M last year.

He was a TWolf last year.

Shandon's replacement is Terence Morris. In my opinion, Tmo is really going to surprise some folks. Here is what Coach Williams at Maryland says about Terence.

"Every once in a while you have a player where you don't see any ceiling to his game. Terence has a chance to be great, and I don't say that about a lot of players. Terence was the guy last year who started the season and allowed us to get off to a good start. He probably had as much pressure on him as any other college basketball player in the country because he was picked player of the year in the ACC and first team All-America in the preseason. Really, when you looked at our team at the beginning of last year, there was nobody else that teams really focused on besides Terence. Terence took all that attention early in the year, and yet he had great games against some really good teams. And that allowed Lonny Baxter and Juan Dixon to develop their game kind of off to the side where people really weren't focused on them. To Terence's credit he's completely unselfish. He passed up shots for the other guys' benefit last year and did a lot of things team-wise. I think Terence is one of those people who is genuinely happy when the team wins. There are a lot of guys that say they are, but might not be. I think Terrance is very happy regardless of what his stats reveal. He is a great passer, too, especially for his size. He's one of the best passers for a player that size that I've ever coached. His decision to come back this year was just a very mature decision on his behalf. In other words, he could have gone out a made a lot of money this year, but he will be here as a better player at the end of next season, than he was at the end of this season."

    Good luck in Dallas SA!

    Wrong Championship...

IMHO, we already have enough young players, a 6,7 year vet could help us out, especially one that has been to the finals.

damnit, you're right [IMG] and Chris Carrawell was better than Nate James, who is CBA bound.

I also believe that either Griffin (if he plays SF) or Morris (at backup SG/SF) will be a considerable upgrade over Shandon. I do not see any reason whatsoever to re-sign him. To me, he has not proven anything during his time as a Rocket.

exactly. except shandn let kobe go for like 50, and couldn't get anything close to a respectable offensive game.

at least cat would have scored 20.

    KOBE v Shandn: kobe 40, shandn 8

    KOBE v cat: kobe 45, cat 25.

i don't know about you, but i'd take the cat matchup 8 days a week.

Chris Carrawell plays division II ball in Italy.

My suggestion regarding Felipe Lopez was more aimed at Shandon's minutes at shooting guard. I would really like to have 4 guards if Shandon leaves and I didn't think Morris could play shooting guard. Without Shandon, we would have to rely on Walt for a lot of shooting guard minutes, and I would rather have someone who plays defense do that.

Lopez would be a nice replacement for Shandon and also would be cheaper to get but that would result in reduced minutes for Moochie as Francis would be playing only as a point guard.Moochie would probably start considering playing for another team if he isn't already.
I don't know how well would Morris be able to defend bigger shooting guards but I think the Rockets will try him as a reserve shooting guard and small forward.
