TheFreak.... In your never ending crusade to find hypocrasy and whiny b****ing (and hopefully both...ooh bonus points) in other people's posts, you really do come up with some of the lamest logic on the board with complete lack of memory or ability to even research your facts. Man, you are way off base here. find an argument, man. freaking pest! I guess you only remember threads with Whiny b**** in them. No one has ever called him that, no wonder you can't remember the threads about him apparently feuding with Francis for being waved off in the low post in the Laker game. A Utah writer started saying "no one on the Rockets wants to talk about it". The SportingNews reported: Then Feigan asked Anderson about it and he said it was an in game thing...it is part of basketball..."Francis will learn my game". Fans like Dreamshake were worrying about it, big time. In fact, the whole BBS went in uproar for a good week discussing pleasing Shandon, and I even recall a thread about "A Thread NOT About Shandon". Oh, and for you comment about Shandon not complaining in Utah Here is what the Jazz owner had to say in Sept '99 Now, it is clear and evident in the three threads today that Shandon is OFFICIALLY complaining about his role. TheFreak, the man has a history of complaining about playing time and touches. I did not say he was a whiny b****. But I guess by some freakish logic, this is heypocrasy on our part, and we aren't allowed to say Shandon is complaining, because that means your Austinite buddy shanna will cry about losing his moniker.
no. shandon is GAR-BAGE. you know it and i know it. and heyp, i'm not sure shandon could start in minnesota, either. felipe lopez (mr. bust, himself) was actually been doing well lately. his "d" is comparable to shandon's. ------------------ Lt. Roastabotch reporting for duty!
LOL. You really nailed me, hp. I asked a simple question, for anyone to name an instance where Shandon has complained, and you give me Peter Vescey-style rumor, and Larry Miller contract-bargaining-leverage quotes from Shandon's agent. Is that the best you can do? Those are facts now? Is that all we need now to call someone a whiny b**** (or chronic complainer, which are obviously 2 very completely different things)? There are quotes TODAY from Shandon HIMSELF that he wants to re-sign with the Rockets. But apparently, your Peter Vescey quote and Larry Miller jab at him from 2 years ago overrule that. "Clear and evident"...LOL! Hey hp...it's pretty "clear and evident" that Webber is not going to sign with Houston this off-season! Steve Jones said so on the radio! There is no proof of that. Larry Miller saying it in an attempt to gain leverage in a contract situation IS NOT proof. Peter Vescey saying it IS NOT proof. This BBS freaking out about a Peter Vescey rumor saying that Shandon is unhappy IS NOT proof. Where is this history?
TheFreak, What do you need...Shandon to say he is complaining. OK man, you caught me. I have no proof. Give me a break. Shandon wants more playing time, more touches, and a different system. Are you satisfied? What freaking word can you allow me to use. What is your damn point? I'm not playing stupid logic games with you for your amusement. Fact is,,,this isn't hypocrasy, nor is it calling someone a whiny b****...you are pathetic talking about basketball.
geeze man you suck, theFreak, This is wanting more playing time and touches. "I want more playing time." I call that a complaint. Man, problem with you in this thread is you think "complaining" is like me thinking this man owes me something, and he is screwing me. Don't you see we are socializing in the thread. Complaint is just that. We all honestly believe he is complaining. Don't come in here and thump your chest and say "hypocrasy"...you guys are calling Shandon a whiny b****. We think he is complaining. We have quotes from his old boss and quotes today that he wants more playing time. But, I'm not taking this to court to win a case with you as the judge. So take you "play me a videotape of Shandon calling himself a complainer" logic away. what a pest. quit following me. sheesh. [This message has been edited by heypartner (edited April 06, 2001).]
Show me where he said that. Where's the article. Nope. The problem is you're calling someone a chronic complainer and providing no proof. That's a personal attack with nothing to back it up. Where are the quotes saying he wants more playing time? Haven't seen those yet. Saying it over and over again doesn't make it true. Quotes from his old boss? PATHETIC. Using quotes from the Jazz owner to discredit him. There's no other word to describe it.
TheFreak, Repeating himself like a parrot. Read this damn thread over again. And tell me exactly what you are adding to it. Oh, and I have no Watergate tapes of Shandon complaining. You caught me; I have no smoking gun. If you want to talk, let's talk. I know achebe, rimbaud and verse would get a kick out of my summary of Shandon's options. What are you doing, but trying to win an argument that no one is having, and that you are defining. that is pointless...and tells me nothing about you. I am here to talk basketball. I am in this thread to state an interesting spin, and make 3 people laugh. I'm not a damn paid journalist, and I don't have to say sorry to Shandon for having fun with him. fact remains, Shandon is not a good offensive player and not worth changing his role if he is impatient. I started the whole day saying impatient. Read me post chronologically. Who cares about if he is a chronic complainer or not. And who says a chronic complainer is a bad thing anyhow. I have no problems with Gary Payton, Magic, Larry Bird, Jordan, Dream and many other stars complaining and changing systems and coaches. do you? You are not in here to debate the topic or make conversation, you are in here for something else out of context. AS USUAL. [This message has been edited by heypartner (edited April 06, 2001).]

From the Chron: "It's going to be a good situation," Anderson said. "Once the game changes, it's going to be to my strong suit. Hopefully, everybody else just carries it over and we pick up the pace a little more. Here, Anderson is showing that he hopes league rule chnges will force Rudy to change the offense to better fit himself. Obviously not happy with status quo...otherwise, why be happy about change? Anderson said he would like to return for a third season with the Rockets, but Fegan said no decision will be made until the end of the season. "Shandon has had a good experience here," he said. "The major issue is going to be finding what his role will be on the team, how he will be used. But we'll wait to talk about that." Being diplomatic, but agent clearly says they want to find out more about his "role," meaning he is unhappy with his current one. "That's not my fault because I don't get a shot off in this system," Anderson said. "That's just something that happened and they have to evaluate it themselves. Here, Anderson blames Rudy's offense for his lack of production. THEY have to evaluate (read: change) the system. Sounds like complaining. "This type of game is what I anticipated when I came here," Anderson said. "I wish there were more. Shandon wanted situations created for him...he feels he did not get them...he wishes there were more. If you are content, why do you wish for something else? Suggests he got a bad deal (misrepresentation?). Sure, he is not a complete ass about it, but he has been unhappy and has let it come out. ------------------ Whitey will pay.
I'd be a little happier if the quotes were "I need to change my game to fit the system" but the basic idea is clear. Shandon isn't happy with his role, and he's not going to let it sit in him till he blows up. I'm not to worried about someone wanting to be a better player, and he is still yet to go off. The positives we get from that quote is he wants to be a Rocket, and WILL wait for us to do our needed stuff, and then deal with him, so we have time to work with the cap juggling issues. It sounds like he'll see how our team looks, and then decide whether he wants to be around. In other words, he'll be a 3rd or 4th domino, not the first domino (C-Webb, Hakeem, pick). Shandon is in fact complaining, but he's not going after another player, and still wants to be here. IMO, more than anything, he's trying to justify his lack of scoring, as his pride and ego is taking a beating from the goose eggs in the scoring column. Is it desire? Of course there's Cato, saying defense isn't the problem. The difference? Cato's job is defense, offense is secondary, Cato was failing on his main job. Shandon's defense hasn't lacked, it has been his offense. heyparty-Do you have the ISO numbers during the stretch Shandon scored like 16 ppg? Also, since the goal is to have a running team that scores a lot in transition led by Franchise, it seems you feel Shandon doesn't fit in. Wouldn't he fit in in that type of offense? Or do you feel he is unnecessary, and isn't worth the 2.86 million he'll count towards our cap space? One more thing to note, perhaps Shandon has that 2nd round mental complex that Mobley has, and has a chip on his shoulder like Mobley, because of it. ------------------ "That's been a lifelong dream of mine." -Vince Carter, after laying it in on a breakaway, much to the Vancouver crowd's displeasure.
I definitely think he's unhappy, and see no real reason why he would want to stay, other than money. I don't think he's "let it come out". He's been very professional about his status on this team. If I were Shandon I would be frustrated too. The only way he's going to be successful on the offensive end of the court, is if the offensive system suits his strengths, which the Rockets system could(fastbreak), but he just isn't that great a fit in the halfcourt game. A couple plays from last night's game epitomize the way Shandon must be feeling right now. First, he's wide open for a 3, but Francis doesn't look up, ISO's, and Shandon throws his hands up in disgust. Second, Cuttino runs the break, Steve on his left and Shan on his righ, Shandon clearly should get the ball, but he makes the tougher pass to Steve, who does score, but you can clearly see the frustration mounting in Shandon. I don't think he wants Rudy to somehow change the offensive system to get him more touches, I just think he wants the other players to pass the damn ball to him when he's open. He could get so many easy buckets as the postup decoy in 24 high, but often times Steve just waits for him to screen instead of throwing the entry pass in for the layup, which is often times open. Also, I think he has some resentment towards Cuttino, because though he still starts, he was in a sense demoted with his move to the small forward spot. ------------------
ROFL! Very nice, D-Rob nice post, rimbaud. Thanks for restoring some sanity to this thread. I'd like to see Shandon stay and really thrive with the Rockets. I agree that there are facets of his game that he really should work on, like it or not, like the spot-up 3. And I hope in time that the offensive system fully utilizes Shandon's strengths. I'd like to see Shandon succeed, maybe get 12 points a game off fast breaks and open 3's, and be a big part of a top team defensive core, if that makes any sense. And I wouldn't mind overpaying him a little either for that. ------------------
If we get a pick that high I want Griffin ------------------ President of the Steve Francis, Jamal Crawford,Larry Hughes, and Charles Woodson fan club.
How does this prove he's a 'complainer'? Somebody asked him what he felt about zone defenses, and he responded. Man Shandon, you're such a whiny b****. This is the agent talking, not Shandon. The agent's JOB is to make Shandon look as good as possible. Next. What was the question? "Shandon, why did you suck last night?" "Shandon, you couldn't hit the ocean tonight!" "Shandon, do you think the Rockets will want you back given tonight's performance?" Did Shandon actually come out and say this, or was the question put to him in a way that he had to defend himself? Has he complained AT ALL the past 2 years? Nice context given. Pretty sad. This REALLY shows that Shandon is a complainer. So he likes the way the team played that night, he thrived in that style, THEY WERE SUCCESSFUL...I'll say that again THEY WERE SUCCESSFUL and he wishes that would happen more often. Man, what a whiny b****! Here, you are saying that your post really failed miserably at showing Shandon is a complainer, but you point out that you did try your best. [This message has been edited by TheFreak (edited April 08, 2001).]
Freak, I appreciate your attempt to tell me what I am trying to do. I am only used to such things in the Hangout Forum. The purpose of the post was to bring some clarity to the argument b/w you and heyp... You had asked for the article that showed Shandon was complaining...I presented what everyone was talking about. NOTICE: I did not say Shan was a complainer or "whiney b****," I would never use the latter term...I was merely pointing out that he had complained recently. Also notice, I mostly used the word "unhappy," something he seems to be based upon his comments. One time complaining does not make one a complainer. My last sentence was to say that he is not being an ass about it so he is not like Pippen. Should I have tried to make him appear worse? I appreciate your input, though, and will try to overcome my closet "Shandon is a whiney b****" beliefs that you so daringly discovered. ------------------ Whitey will pay.
Same ol' Heypartner... So uncapable of calling a dead horse a dead horse. Rudys offensive game planning is a DEAD HORSE. Appreciate the man all you want for this or that. Fine we all can live with it. But this is going to make 2 straight big free agent pulls who are have very negative things to say about Rudys game plan. You can chalk up Mo Taylor on the list also when he's shown the door. But I guess those players dont know as much about the NBA game planning like heyp. They dont have flashy names for iso plays "Mobley double flex wing swing bang boom" Bye the way...can someone pull up that prediction thread on where they thought the Rox would end up at the end of the season win wise. Lets see who was close. While your at it pull up the "Mavs still suck" thread. For those who predicted same ol mavs. Just curious, as to who was right and who was wrong. ------------------ "I have amazing, powers of observation"...Pink
