What is the all-time highest amount given up by an NBA player in a buyout? $7.5 million is the highest I can remember.

Ty Lawson wasn't technically a buyout, but he renegotiated away a $12m guarantee year like Ryan Anderson just did, making it non-guaranteed, so we were able to cut him.

With what the Lakers were doing to his career it's no surprise.
I know Rox fans on here and reddit and other places weren't exactly nice in conversations about Rynos contract but I thought Laker fans on their boards, blogs and reddit were pretty terrible when it came to discussing Deng in terms of his contract. Like he gave himself the contract and/or forced Mitch to give him the contract or he owed it to Laker fans to take whatever buyout terms the Lakers offered and leave as much money as possible on the table smh. As someone said, Morey would've probably picked up something for Deng's contract...but I'll leave Laker fans to crow about the greatness of Magic and Rob Lowe Pelinka.

Yeah no. Definitely not the case. Lakers have enough young players at the position they'd want to play Deng in and they wanted to go youth movement so no room for Deng. Has nothing to do with if he could contribute anything.
I won't be shocked if Morey picks him up. Or Thibs to continue building his TimberBulls.

Deng isn’t good in the locker room so I would avoid.

Teams get sick of Deng going to the media as a “private source” and airing out the teams dirty laundry.

When did Anderson waive next year's guarantee?

    Edit:

I just found it. He reduced his guarantee to 15 million.

yeah, I was just being brief, due to a thread with the Ryan terms in the title.

Ryan renegotiated off $5.4m of the $20m guaranteed (should he be cut). Ty Lawson negotiated away his entire last year ($12m, right?).

As @Clutch termed it, they "agreed to buyout terms" by stripping away guaranteed compensation protection.

So if we sign this chump, we would have two players on the roster who last played when obama was still in office o_O

So you've said this before and it's not true. What teams are claiming this? The Bulls and the Cavs? What he said in those situations didn't make him a bad teammate or player to have in the locker room. If you actually talk or hear from people that have played with Luol, you won't find many who have an issue with him as a teammate. I know that for a fact. Plenty of other malcontents and bad apples in NBA locker rooms, Deng isn't one.
What about the Heat and the Lakers? I'm going to say confidently that those teams had zero issue with Deng w/regard to the media and players airing "dirty laundry".

Wouldn't it be something if Deng actually has rotation ability remaining in his previously abused, but Laker-time underused body?!!

Looking like it. They have a ton of cap space and young assets. Not to mention Lebron freaking James.

Shawn Kemp got bought out the last two years of his contract worth $46.5 large ($21.5 large in 2002 and $25 large in 2003).

TBH I don't get why they signed him in the first place
