Have to say, it would be a pretty impressive legacy if Kawhi won 3+ championships on 3 different teams as the lead guy, especially considering he would have pulled two of them out of the proverbial abyss in Toronto and LAC.
Toronto was not in the abyss they were a 50 win team and had been in the playoffs multiple times before he got there.
So glad he didnt end up with the Lakers. Now I have a west coast team to root for. Hopefully they serve as Laker kryptonite and take over the city.
I didn't mean that literally but nobody considered the Raptors a real contender prior to this year despite successful regular seasons.
Damn, 2+1 only? That's a bit tough for LAC, but does show he wants results / championships. Keeps his freedom. What if he goes to the Lakers when Lebron can officially take a serious backseat and pass the torch. Now that would be funny.
All the “NBA insiders” had no inside information First it was Lakers or Raptors Wrong! Then it was looking to sign long term deal. Wrong! The summer of 2021 going to be Free agent frenzy
The only team to beat them was the Lebrons. There were in the eastern conference finals a few years ago.
I'm going to be that person, tonight. Because, the Westbrook trade happen. 1. In 2014, he did not stop, shutdown, or erase LeBron, in reality. LeBron played better 2014 than he did the 2013. The Heat got old fast. 2. Potentially, set out entire season and would have sat out, another one, if he wasn't traded. 3. Harden would've beat Golden State with the Rockets roster or replaced Kawhi with Beard. Especially since KD and Klay were pretty much, injured. Toronto still wins. He's good top 7 player, though. The Clippers are still #orsh/T franchise with no championships and the 3rd most popular team in their own arena.
on this basis, one can infer that had Toronto traded for Paul George, Leonard would have signed w the King of the North !
Lakers, Raptors have complained about the way Clippers' Kawhi Leonard handled his decision According to ESPN's Brian Windhorst, the Lakers feel as though Leonard "played" them throughout the process, and led the team on even though he didn't intend to sign with them. While waiting on Leonard's decision, the Lakers missed out on the opportunity to sign other players to contracts in free agency. The Lakers aren't alone in their discontent either, as the Raptors were also less than pleased with the way that Leonard went about his business this summer, according to Windhorst. Leonard ultimately signed with the Clippers after holding discussions with both the Lakers and Raptors, and both teams believed that they were in the running until the end. "I've heard complaints in the days after the signing. I heard complaints from the Lakers that they got played. I heard complaints from the Raptors that Kawhi came in and asked for the sun, the moon, the stars then left them at the altar. ... I kind of think they were all still in the game, and they all felt like they were still in the game. If Toronto did not still feel like they were in the game, they would not have sent the plane for him, they would not have done the big presentation. If the Lakers didn't think that they were still in the game, they would not have delayed the Anthony Davis trade like they did to wait and see if they could get him."
