they way Covington is talked about and viewed, his addition must lead to an instant chip

Is this Robert Covington, or Lamar Odom with high volume 3 point shooting? I mean, damn...

Robert Covington in addition to Capela makes us a true contender in my view. Sadly we don't have salaries to make it work very easily but it is possible (with the team going in the tax lmfao no way)

Anyone who is a casual fan has followed guys like Cam Reddish - he's had a high profile even before Duke. Pretty much every scout doesn't take the rookie season seriously. These guys come out so raw that it's hard to tell who is going to take the leap vs. not. Usually by year 3, the guys who don't come roaring out the gate declare themselves. I don't take year one that seriously for guys who are raw, like Cam.

Typical metrics don't predict future success well at this point. They work well on the high end (guys like Zion, Luka), but fail pretty badly at the low end, because there's so much noise as these guys develop.

Possible how? Covington is viewed like he’s some borderline top 30 player on the market, and we lack assets outside of Capela. Tucker, filler, and multiple picks? I haven’t even bothered to use the Trade Machine on this one, there’s no point. Clint is outta here.

watch and learn, I'm some what of a trade machine maestro.

You gotta utilize the TPEs by sending contracts to other teams and taking back money into TPEs. Not happening because tiLman isn't spending. Maybe it takes another pick to get it done but whatever.

    Russ/Rivers
    Harden/Eric
    Covington / Ben
    PJ / Bolden / Thabo
    Capela/Bell

    that's a championship team.

Finding a very good wing defender is tough. Finding one that has size and can guard all positions is even tougher and very valuable. Finding one that can also shoot the 3 and space the offense? There’s only a handful of guys like that in the league.

Just as Capela fit like a glove with CP3 and Harden, a guy like Covington will fit like a glove with Westbrook and Harden.

Look at the Milwaukee Bucks. They have a forward in Giannis who can’t shoot very well. Much of his game is getting to the rim, like Westbrook. Their big guys create space for Giannis by being able to shoot the 3. With Westbrook, I think it makes sense to follow how Milwaukee has built their roster, by being able to defend all positions on defense with switchable players and on offense create space for your sub-par-shooting star player to get to the rim.

Unbelievable... we're trading a 1st round pick and Capela to bring back two injury prone guys who we might have to load manage.WTF

We're gonna waste our best and only decent asset in Capela for this???

Is this move supposed to get us over the hump????

Our future is sh#$.. we're probably the oldest team in the league and our future is fu$&d

the amount of talking about a Covington for Capela swap with CC going to Atlanta means one of two things.

    1) the framework is essentially done and some smaller stuff is just ancillary
    2) the deal died and morey wants to generate interest quickly to try to find a deal quickly.

Clint needs to be traded today if he's going to be traded. Morey needs needs the extra days to fill in some holes.

    If Morey can add:

    Covington
    Len
    Hunter
    Markieff Morris

    for

    Capela and Hartenstein

Wouldn't expect less from our GM :D

The Warriors are playing it smart, there are thirsty teams willing to overpay for Russell, they'll get what they want and use all the picks plus their own eventuallt to get another star in the summer or during the next season which will cost them a little more then Russell, pretty much they're about to trade Russell for a true star that will fit better with their team.

He said talks were stalled, not dead. Clearly a standoff going on here over negotiations, probably in regards to pick protections
