Unbelievable. Durant hasn’t signed an extension yet btw. Gotta believe fvv was at least part of the reason he wanted to come here. Huge blow.

Wouldn’t make a difference. We can’t use it.

Again, I’m not disagreeing with you. I’m a big proponent of what VanVleet brought to this team. Sengun, Thompson and Sheppard are going to have to elevate their playmaking abilities.

Why not? Oh, because his contract still counts against the cap.....yep, it just means Tillman makes more money.

It's funny you say this when the Rockets signed Capela while over the tax. They also traded Cam Whitmore for no money, as well as let go of Jock Landale instead of using him in a salary matching move. I'm not the biggest Rafael Stone fan on this board, but at least I don't think he's an idiot who is incapable of making major moves within the confines of the NBA. That's GM 101.

That is one thing that is being overlooked. This isn't a young team anymore in terms of experience. A lot of these guys are now in year 3, 4, or 5. They've gotten a taste of the playoffs and they added vets like KD and DFS.

Theoretically if he panned out, Reed was supposed to emerge as the heir apparent to Fred by season's end. He wasn't meant to be a backup playing 10-15 minutes the entire year. Granted, now it's almost a requirement that he turns into a guy worthy of the #3 pick in the draft, but all that's really happened is the timetable being moved up half the season.

Also, I agree with your earlier point that this will make them a faster team. Fred being the primary ballhandler would kill the team's ability to score on the break.

Based on the summerleague performance, Reed didn't seem ready to start. We should have Amen plus either Tari, Holidays, or DFS to start at the 2 spot and bring Reed and Okagie off the bench depending the matchup. Sengun showed much better ball-handling during Euroleague and he could occasionally bring the ball up. Blessing in the disguise is that the bad news happens at the beginning of the season, and we can still make adjustments.

FWIW, Reed was at his best when starting and being a ball handler.

Fred is signed to Klutch Sports and we know they dont want Durant getting another ring with Lebrons chances nowhere in sight. Smells very fishy

He's a rhythm guy. Give him lots of minutes and he seems to find a groove. It's when he's relegated to 10 minutes a game(or DNPs for weeks at a time) that he struggles.

I don't really think this is fair. He averaged 23.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 turnovers, 4.0 steals, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 blocks. He made the All Summer team despite only playing 2 games. The only thing he lacked was efficiency, but you can't really gauge efficiency on such a limited sample size.

Any player can get hurt. That’s not exclusive to Kevin Durant. Durant has played 75 and 62 games the last two years, too.

Sorry, but I don’t live in a sky is falling world. Does this injury suck? Yes. Are the Rockets still very deep and talented? Yes. Do the Rockets still have plenty of trade chips to acquire a point guard? Yes.

I disagree, he played with guys who couldn't finish, all the gravity that Sengun and KD will have will give Reed wide open looks, he will be fine...and if not Holiday will be.

    My point guard Amen Thompson

Probably should've kept Cam for a SG lol

This was the fear of trading for KD and relying on him and Fred to stay healthy. Ime got his guys and we traded our yougins...

If this was a conspiracy to stop Durant from getting a ring they woudn't want FVV to be hurt.

Amen DFS Jabari KD Sengun starting lineup with Tari Reed Adams off the bench and Capela in for Adams on B2B's. If KD needs to sit that's what we have Okogie Holliday Tate and Uncle Jeff for.

It's a tight rotation with even more length than it did when FVV was around, but less shooting and more turnovers. If Amen and Reed show up, FVV might have played his last game as a Rocket. With a huge caveat that ACL's aren't what they used to be, and a return by May might also be a possibility.
