Fred had to opt in because this might be his last big check due to his shot knee. I think we will trade him sooner than later.

So we're adding Smart on a 3 year deal and trading Fred? I wonder what we're getting for Fred (Brown?). I guess I'll reserve judgment for now and see what happens.

Smart is a massive step backwards......we have to get Ime out of here, he is killing this franchise.

There was no way that FVV was going to turn down $25,000,000 at his age, coming off a nasty injury and with his mileage.

At this point Rocket fans need to hope someone on the roster makes a big leap (as unlikely as that seems) and that the Rockets benefit from dumb luck and one of the Suns picks turn into a top lottery selection and the 2027 draft exceeds expectations.

A lot of "ifs" but that is where we are at. It could be worse, at a minimum the Rockets have avoided doubling down and dealing assets for old players.

So Fred opts in, but where’s the cryptic philosophical tweet? I was looking forward to shaping my life decisions according to his wisdom.

Saw somebody on Reddit said Fred deleted all his Rockets-related posts on instagram, I don't use Facebook stuff so I wouldn't know, but if that's true... trade incoming? Or he just salty?

Just for the record - "signals not to draft" are stupid and not actually a thing that matters in the real world

The way NBA draft rights work in this era, the players play for the team that drafted regardless of the signal - see Bailey, Ace and Peterson, Darryn. Nobody GAF that they wanted to go to Washington.

The signals not to draft is some bs made up to assuage the ego of the player passed over and, in this case, the team trying to console itself for making the wrong choice.

I think it was the rockets coming out and putting out copium but this was also during the draft too where castle wasn't going to work out for a team that already had an established pg

Looking at Turner for Fred expiring? Bucks want to unload his contract?

This would let Sengun move to PF?

it means that he read a few business books while he was paid $25 Million to rehab for a year and now wants to appear thoughtful and intelligent.

honestly, I’m terrified of the rockets making a trade. I just don’t have a good feeling about their decision-making. Hope I’m wrong. I see more old people. Scary.

get FVV and DFS tf out of here.

both are expiring neutral contracts even if they don't play.

get me Trey Murphy III, Rafael.

Did the Rockets want Fred to Opt Out and sign him to a lower contract?

i would imagine yes, Fred probably didn't want the 3/45 they offered, he hurt the ability to maneuver if he stayed. He forced the Rockets to finally move on, in my opinion there is almost no benefit to keeping him here at $25M and would be another huge blunder mark on Stone.
