I see a bit of Melo in his game. Jab steps, quick threes off a single move, etc. Even has the sleeve. Being a Brooklyn kid, I'll bet he grew up idolizing Melo. That said, I hope he likes Mexican food, 'cause he's going to be spending some time in the Rio Grande Valley.
Meh. He can score. He is small for a guard. He isn’t very strong. He isn’t very quick. He isn’t a good defender. But... he can score.
his fav player is actually harden and he models his game after him. very evident if you watch him play also big fan of him. watched a ton of him. hope he gets the chance here. from an offensive standpoint he's a good fit. it's saying a lot cause he went undrafted but he's very talented offensively that contract is iffy but it says a lot in how much they believe in his skillset, if true. i'm sure the advanced data will prove it too but his offensive usage in terms of scoring and creating was pretty similar to harden's at SJU
he's 6'1 - 6'2 ish. size is a definitely a knock on him especially since he won't blow you away physically/athletically. but that's where his skillset comes in. knows how to create space, use angles, etc
Rockets fans, I'd advise you to rein in your optimism. This happens every year after the draft. How many of those guys are on our roster?
Trae Young is quick.... Ponds isn’t really. I’ll trust the Rockets on this one. He will have to play efficient on offense and play defense with a chip on his shoulder.
good point. especially with MDA not really trusting the young guys. i'm just ecstatic cause the rockets finally got a college player i enjoyed watching/hoping they'd give a chance to
I don’t see any ground swell of excitement. He is one of the best undrafted players and fills a potential need.
