Did Rockets win any games in the past week when Yao Ming only played 20 minutes and was ignored on the court? Or did the guard oriented offense give Rockets a better chance at winning in the past three games?
When Ming can't make his shots in the post it destroys the Rockets offense causing it to go into ugly guard play. All Yao-only lovers trying to make excuses for him hitting the wall by passing the blame to Rudy and the guards need to open their eyes. If Yao was making his shots like he did earlier this season the Rockets would be feeding it to him all the time. However he can't score to save his life right now and by continuing to give him the ball won't help. Would you rather see a 1/4 shooting night or a 3/15? All Yao needs is a nice vacation of a couple of weeks so he can come back fresh and pick up where he left off when he was improving every week. The Ming Dynasty will return but only after he gets some rest.
EVERY GAME...WE START WITH PASSING INTO YAO. The problem is Yao has been missing ALL OF HIS SHOTS. They only shots that he makes are the ones that are RIGHT NEXT TO THE BASKET. He is missing everything. He can't find a way to score.......AND HE IS NEVER LOOKING TO PASS ANYMORE. He needs to feel comfortable again....They don't pass to him anymore because he's been missing all of his shots. I hope he can find a way to adjust. He better...doing terrible recently.
windandsea, I think it is obvious that we are a better team when we have a good post presence like Yao involved in the offense. The only problem is that Yao has been REALLY ineffective lately and cannot score or rebound with any consistency. His post play has been horrible lately...really horrible. Teams no longer need to double team him to stop him and one on one defenders have been able to stop him pretty easily as well. He looks like a TOTALLY different guy out there compared to how well he was playing in December. I really hope his problem is that he simply needs time to rest....I really do. But its looking like NBA defenders have scouted his moves and tendencies and he hasn't been able to adjust his game around it...which is very sad if its true. All in all, I personally am hitting the panic button on Yao, but I do have hope that he will overcome all this that's being thrown at him. I couldn't imagine the adversity he's faced over the past 3 months, but its incredibley upsetting to see him constantly out rebounded and blocked by guys almost a foot shorter than him. When things like that happen it also brings the team down and lowers their confidence as a whole. When your big man doesn't want to bang and be physical then your team looks weak and thats how the rockets look now.
think about who VOTE him to be the all star. it's you, it's me, it's not yao. I think Yao clearly knows he is not qualified to be a all star yet from his talk about shark after the LAL's match.
I'm not gonna blame just Yao for the last three losses and I'm not gonna blame Stevie or Cat or Rudy either. This has been a complete team debacle. The starters have essentially been blown out in three straight games. The two against the Spurs and Dallas are nearly tolerable but last night was horrible. Is this the sort of loss that sends a message to the team that its time to shape up. I certainly hope so. They seemed to have felt the Laker game was the championship game or something. I have to believe last night was rock-bottom for this team. If it gets worse, the playoff dream is over. I believe Yao has become too passive. He doesn't slam the ball in close and he's just not aggressive on the rebounds anymore. I'm gonna go with the Barkley philosophy that was given to Pippen..."If you're not shooting well, keep shooting." Yao cannot score if he doesn't shoot. But even if Yao is the problem, this team is still good enough not to get blown out. Everybody needs to step up...everybody needs an enema!
I can't believe that some of you are talking about trading Yao MIng!!! That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard!!!
