I don't think the Suns do the deal straight up. The Rox probably would have to throw in Boki and a first round draft pick. Imagine Tmac and Amare, damn those two would truly be unstoppable.
If you don't think that Yao comes out and plays hard every night, then you aren't watching the same games I am. He gets in early foul trouble a bit much for me, but he brings it and brings it hard night in and night out. But honestly, KG wasn't considered in the top tier of NBA players until the last 2-3 years, after he had led his team to the playoffs five years in a row. True, he never got past the first round until last year, but he also never had any help to speak of since losing Marbury.
I don't care about Cleveland and their lack of role players - it's not like ours are setting the world on fire or anything anyway. LeBron seems at this point to be a much more talented player than Yao and will have a greater impact on the NBA in terms of on the court contribution, IMO. I think Yao's limitations at this point are things he will never overcome (he will never be a quick reacter or leaper, and hence a great rebounder, he doesn't seem to have the balance or strenght to beat a double team consistently). LeBron's only limit at this point seems to be his shot selection which is enitrily curable
I don't what nba you where looking at, but kg has been one of the top players for a while now. I am not saying yao work hard every night he just don't bring his a game with him every night. Lebron is head and shoulders a better project than Yao.
Amare for Yao straight up is questionable. But Amare/Nash for Yao, who could say no to that? Could you imagine TMac/Amare/Nash all on the same team. All we would have to do is get rid of JVG, and our team would contend this year.
Why don't you put T-Mac, Yao, Nash, TD and KG at the same team? Why would Suns trade Amare + Nash for Yao? How is the cap going to work?
I am not one for hyperbole, but anyone who thinks that Amare is BETTER than Yao (not equal to, but better) has a very low basketball IQ. Yao demands double teams every single play (and if Charlie freaking Ward could hit a jump shot, and Mo T could grab a rebound, the Rockets would be in first place with this team. I am a big roto geek and I watch the Suns (I have the league pass). They are running a wide open attack and EVERYONE's stats look good. BUT... Any discussion around Amare's improvement this season beings and ends this this guy....
Hell YES!!! Save YAO and get him off this team and away from that psychotic Van Grumpy dwarf monster!! Let Amare be the one who is mentally and physically destroyed by Van Grumpy!!! And let Yao blossom on a nicer team where he can fully develop naturally!! Either Van Grumpy goes or Yao goes!!
Yao is physically limited (via stamina and speed) to a half-court offense. If I were a GM, I would seriously have to consider whether I want to play a slow-down half-court game for the next 10 years. If I chose the other two players, the team's offensive options are more flexible. Yes, you don't know if Amare can play in a half-court offense, but, at least he has no physical limitations that would constrain what the team can do on offense.
I think that's almost exactly right, give or take a few % points here and there - as long as teams are picking for b-ball reasons and not marketing ones.
I won't trade Yao for either Amare or Brown. However, I will definitely trade Yao for Brown + Amare. Also I will trade JVG for PJ in a heartbeat.
The cap might not work, but in terms of talent, If you are of the mindset that Yao >> Amare, then Amare + Nash would balance the trade out talent wise. I don't know what the Suns or the Suns fans think of Yao/Amare, but there's quite of a few people here who think Yao >> Amare.
Ours may not be the best, but we have a far more talented collection than Cleveland does right now and the combination of TMac and Yao will help us to lure more quality role players in the coming years through the free agent market, particularly if we enjoy even moderate success (second round of the playoffs) this year. More talented, perhaps, but Yao already has a far greater impact on games than LeBron does. Yao draws a double team virtually every trip down the court, many times even before he gets the ball. I believe that he does have both the balance and the strength to beat double teams consistently, he just hasn't learned all of the proper techniques for doing so. Working with Ewing and Mutombo should help as far as that goes and as he gets more comfortable holding people off (and IF the refs ever give him any respect), he will improve dramatically in the low post. As we saw with SF last year, huh?
Thank you. To stop Amare: Slow down the game. Unfortunately this is hard to do in regular season. Teams just don't have enough time to figure out how to slow phx/dallas down. Let's see what happens in playoffs: You have days/weeks to study 1 team! You will slow them down. You play the same team over and over! You will slow them down. You have plenty of time to make adjustments! You will slow them down. Once phx/dallas gets slowed down to a half court team, they are average. Result, run and gun teams don't win in playoffs! Remember what Dallas looked like in the playoffs? A team that's been gunning all season all the sudden being forced to play half court ball. That's what phx will look like in hte playoffs. Teams like Houston and San Antonio. What do you going to do, slow us down even more? We've been playing half court ball all year long. Give the ball to Yao or Duncan, we get a high percentage shot. No matter what you do on defense. Days of studying tape isn't going to help you. That's the difference between having Amare and having Yao. It ok to say Amare is the best player in the league right now. It's crazy to trade Yao for Amare.
yes... and he too has a big man that works well in the post and is over 7 feet sound familiar the difference is Lebron and Z have a real POINT GUARD !!!!
Yes, but he didn't really get much respect until he was surrounded by players with whom he could compete for a championship. LeBron cannot be seen as an actual superstar in this league until he DOES something. Maybe this will be his year and maybe it won't, but he is not there yet. I see Yao bringing everything he has every single night. Sometimes he has off nights (even Wilt didn't score 30 every single night), but most of those are a result of early foul trouble, an issue I hope he addresses (and one that will be dealt with once he starts to get some respect from the refs) in the near future. He has his share of obstacles to overcome, but I see Yao bringing it hard every single night and if you don't, we must not be watching the same games. Whatever. Yao is head, shoulders, and even shoulder BLADES better than LeBron now in terms of impact on opposing team's game plans. He gets double teamed before he even gets the ball in many cases and wreaks havoc with the opposition in every game he plays. LeBron MIGHT someday have more impact, but Yao has as much impact right now as some of the guys we have been talking about (KG, Duncan, etc.) and FAR more than LeBron, IMO.
