With the pickup of Crittenton, I think Lowry could be available. If we can dump Rafer for something, maybe we should take a look at him. One of our expirings and a 1st could get it done.
Successful Trade Scenario Congratulations on a successful trade. Due to Houston and L.A. Clippers being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston and L.A. Clippers had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. No way are the Clippers giving up Cassell and Maggette, both with expiring deals and getting Rafer, James and Francis in return. James hasnt done anything, Rafer is up and down and Francis is way less cap relief then if they just let both players walk away. Not to mention that Rafer and James are signed to multiple years. And you are dreaming if you think that combo of players lands us Cassel and Miller. It would be a nice dream, but not happening.
This Laker deal just made me realize that we need to get Kidd, at whatever cost. Keep "the future" and Yao, and get rid of whatever junk you can and throw in a few picks.
Apologies, I really did not know which thread to put this into so I'll add it here as well: If the Grizz really are trying to dump salary for expiring contracts, how about this for a trade?: Houston sends Battier and Snyder to New Jersey and a future first to Memphis; New Jersey sends the expiring contracts of Antoine Wright, Bostjan Nachbar and Jamaal Magloire to Memphis; and Memphis sends us Mike Miller. We get Mike Miller paired with T-Mc again. New Jersey gets a great sixth man in Battier and an expiring contract (or exercise their team option) in Snyder. Memphis gets a future first and takes almost $10M immediately off their payroll with the option of re-negotiating the contracts of a decent center (Magloire); a promising SG (Wright); and an athletic SF in Boki.
If Mike Miller is on the market I'd definitely go for him. He is a great shooter but can also create his own shot off the dribble; he's has definite all-star talent. Here's my trade proposal: Incoming Players Mike Miller Salary: $8,376,194 Years Remaining: 3 PTS: 16.8 REB: 6.8 AST: 3.8 PER: 15.89 Kyle Lowry Salary: $1,087,680 Years Remaining: 1 PTS: 8.7 REB: 3.5 AST: 3.5 PER: 13.48 Outgoing Players Bonzi Wells Salary: $2,284,200 Years Remaining: 1 PTS: 9.4 REB: 5.0 AST: 1.4 PER: 13.68 Steve Novak Salary: $687,456 Years Remaining: 1 PTS: 5.0 REB: 1.1 AST: 0.4 PER: 20.83 Kirk Snyder Salary: $2,358,433 Years Remaining: 1 PTS: 3.8 REB: 1.3 AST: 0.9 PER: 14.84 Steve Francis Salary: $2,439,333 Years Remaining: 1 PTS: 5.5 REB: 2.3 AST: 3.0 PER: 9.23 Memphis' viewpoint: Memphis would get 4 player contracts which would expire after this season and they unload Mike Miller's contract. They also simplify the point guard situation, seeing as they presently have three starter-quality players at that position. Houston's viewpoint: Houston gets a legit third-scoring option from the outside. And seeing how Conley and Navarro look like they're 1 and 2 at the point guard position, we can also get Kyle Lowry in the trade. Lowry is player who has a lot of talent (maybe all-star caliber), but has been limited in his minutes with the Grizzlies. The need for Bonzi Wells isn't needed with a McGrady-Battier-Miller rotation at the wing position. Snyder and Francis haven't been helping us. And in the long run, I don't see Novak working out here with Scola, Landry, and Hayes at his position; also the fact that Miller is a glorified version of him.
mike james, francis, wells, mutombo's expiring contracts for miller, navarro, and gay since Griz are looking up to shed money
No they can't. That's the type of thinking that got this organization into the talent fix it finds itself in now.
Yes they can. We did stockpile on picks once, and made nothing out of it. Miller is still not old...he has a good 5 years of basketball left, barring injuries. Not only that, he can handle the ball and is a deadly three-point shooter.
does anyone know if we are actively trying to get miller ? or is this just some random internet rumor/ dream of some fan ?
LOL SO TRUE. Mike Miller will be hard to get. Guy has a good contract and is a very solid player. If rox want him they may have to give up something pretty good I don't think only head will cut it. Lakers took Crittenton and Kwame because Kwame's contract is 9 mill off the book after this year and Crittenton has a lot of potential. Who on Rockets can we say that about? To make up Miller's 8.3 mill: Francis - 2.3 mill/1 year left James - 5.8 mill/2 years left (dont forget that stupid trade restriction) Snyder - 2.4 mill/1 year Bonzi - 2.6 mill/1 year Head - 1.2 mill/2 years Brooks - .97 mill/2 years + Picks Basically unless James agrees to go or we give up our only 5 trade pieces we can't get Miller. Miller would help a lot but we already have a lot of SFs.. If Rockets do this trade I can almost guarentee they are going to turn around and trade Batman OR Tmac for a PG, because we are giving away all of our backup PGs, we are going to be left with Rafer/James, and whatever we pickup. So if Rockets can get Miller + Kidd for some pieces and Tmac I would have to think does this team look better than what we have now: Kidd/Rafer/James/Brooks or Head (I assume at least 1 will be gone getting miller) Batman/James/Brooks or Head Miller/Novak Hayes/Landry/Scola Ming/Deke + Pickups It would be interesting I am not sure we will be helped, it very likely could be great trade because it will give us solid options at all 5 positions, because we need a PG so desperately. But lets see what Morey does.
They are having a fire sale, but simple fact that they can get some young talent, I can't see them just giving him away for 4 expirings. They would want some kind of YOUNG talent that we have.
ATTENTION: MIKE JAMES HAS NO VALUE TO ADD TO A TRADE unless you want negative value and another thing, trading 3-4 players for 1 would mean the other team has to waive some of their guys meaning they would have to spend money the only logical trade i see is battier + filler for miller, but then who becomes our perimeter defender?
They save money in long run. It's all about next year and stuff, they won't have to pay Miller's contract, and they have a lot of cap space then.
lol @ mike miller being close to ray allen.... wtf ? sometimes i really think our fans don't know anything about basketball.
