If we don't make a reasonable trade before the deadlin, we will have a very hard time competing in the west!
Memphis is cutting costs so clearly they would appreciate something like this: Novak, Francis, Brooks, Landry, maybe Head and picks. They might be interested in Bonzi because his contract comes off the books. I would love to get Mike Miller, but who do you trade? I don't think they want Mike James b/c of his contract lenght!
Miller is going to be real tough to get. Yes Memphis seems to have given up, but unlike Gasol, Miller never voiced that he wanted to be traded. The Grizz knew that Gasol would become a cancer if they didnt get rid of him, thats not the case with Miller. That being said, if the Rox tried to make it happen I think Scola would have to be included cuz they will want a decent player who fits their long term plans. Snyder and Bonzi add more cap relief for the Grizz but their salaries dont come close to Millers. Landry makes too little to even the numbers and Brooks would be the 5th PG on that team. (Lowry, Conley, Navarro, Crittenden) Basically I think it would take a Scola, Bonzi, Snyder for Miller trade to interest the Grizz and I wouldnt do that. Scola has shown he can rebound at the 4 position and we know what a jump shot hitting PF can do for Yao. That being said, if the Rox have enough confidence that Landry can hit the outside shot and stay on the floor without fouling out, maybe they consider it. A Miller, Tmac, Battier, Head combo at the SG, SF positions would be pretty impressive.
Sorry to reply to my own post, but this way we could move Mac to the 3 and still have battier or Bonzi to come in off of the bench. Miller and Head at the 2 would be something special! Just a little tweak for us!
Memphis has too many PG's so I doubt they want anymore (Brooks, James, Alston), unless they are willing to let them sit out and just use it as an expiring contract (Francis). A more realistic approach would be a SF or PF. I could see them wanting like a Chuck Hayes and expiring contracts.
Maybe the Gasol trade will make Morey conscious about the talent on the team and go after Mike Miller (Or some other great talent)? PG: Rafer SG: Miller SF: Tmac PF: Scola/Hayes/Landry C: Ya
DaDa... $Ball Morey? Part of the action? You've got to be kidding. The Lakers pulled off the deal because they had a NON $Ball player to trade. Cuban has had truckloads on NON $Ball players...LaFrentz, Juwan on his old contract, Jamison at the max, Van Horn, Croshere...to name a few. You can't particpate in the bargain basement Fire Sales when Mike James (5.6m) and Shane Battier (5.9m) are your next highest contracts after the stars. And neither of those expire any time soon.
come on, look at the great trade of lakers , if we don't move our ass fast~we will never get the chamipion
Successful Trade Scenario Congratulations on a successful trade. Due to Houston being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. SJC, I was thinking the same. However, as Clutch mentioned, Memphis don't want to be buying people out left and right, so we'd have to take back some players. If you throw Andre Brown and Casey jacobsen into the trade, it still works, Memphis save MORE money, gain 2 spots, and we could throw in a first rounder to sweeten the deal. Francis, Snyder, Wells, Head, Protected 1st for Miller, Andre Brown and Casey Jacobsen. They're also dealing Stro for Jason Collins. They could come out of the deadline with the ability to sign two MAX players this summer, plus have awesome picks for years. Personally I think the GM is doing a great job rebuilding.
This team desperately needs another offensive threat whether it is Mike Miller (I could only hope), or a PG (like Andre Miller). This team cannot be factor with Rafer Alston playing 35+ minutes a night in the Western Conference.
