I think Lowry will be awesome. I think Brooks is better as a spark off the bench unless he can finish at the basket better and defend better.
I think we should start Lowry till he has an average game, then start Brooks the next game unitil Brooks has an average game, then start Lowry, then Brooks, until one or the other plays great EVERY game for the rest of their careers.
Think this way. If you have to trade one of them away after the season ends, who would you want to keep? I would say Lowry. Then you want to showcase the other one as a starter to sell him for a better price.
I would go for it to see what happens. Rick Adelman's strategy is sometimes awkward that he might get playing starting minutes.
Agreed, experimenting with a new starting point guard this close to the playoffs is a no-no. I think Lowry will be our starting point guard next season unless Aaron can learn to raise his FG% a few points.
What I find funny is how everyone praises Lowry for the very same stuff Rafer Alston did. Seriously, Aaron Brooks is the starter, despite being a better passer, I haven't seen anything from Lowry that would tell me he could be a better starter then Brooks. Lowry's assist average is 3.5 and Brooks' average is 3.1. Meanwhile, Brooks points average around 11 points and Lowry's are 7.5 points. Despite showing a little more defensive play then Brooks, from what I have seen the same PGs that out muscle or shoot over Brooks's head do the same to Lowry. The current set up with them sharing time is perfectly fine, given despite being in the league a season more then Aaron, Kyle is still very much a young PG himself and with Aaron you at least have someone that is very much used to the team and Adelman's system and wants.
Aaron has been playing with our team for over one/half years, surely Aaron knows much better his teammates than Lowry does. Maybe it will be a good try to play Lowry as our starting PG but that'll also be a big gamble as well. The chemistry has been pretty good with Aaron at PG so I don't think any change on our lineups will do anything good to our team.
I like Brooks to remain the starter, but I also like how Lowry's minutes have increased. Brooks getting 26-27 minutes and Lowry getting 21-22 minutes is a good balance, I think, though it does depend on matchups. It allows both to gain experience and go all out during their time on the court without wearing down. Also, againsts smaller backcourts their minutes would be almost even, as they will get some time on the court together with Brooks as SG.
In the preseason (I think it was) Wafer, during a post-game interview, said "Aaron Brooks is so good out there, he's a problem. Aaron Brooks is a problem." ie he's a problem in a good way.
the beginning of next season or toward the middle of next season would be fine.....it's too late to do it now. bad for brooks confidence and we still need him
Exactly. How many times has this been brought up? Do some guys just watch the big games and not whole season? I should quote it or something.
Lowry has less chemistry with our other 4 starting lineups than Aaron does, maybe it will benefit us more in the long run to start Lowry but it's definitely not pretty good to do that right now as the postseason is coming soon.
