I'm sorry Jeff but I have to give you and your fellow Clarksonites a big The latter part of your quote sounds more like " I don't want to like her, but damn she's hot". And to you other Shakira haters, why don't you just change the TV and shut the hell up. There I feel much better.
i have a spanish mtv unplugged cd of hers. she was more like alanis morisette and she played guitar in the show. did not sound at all like some britney or christina wannabe. i guess she sold out to make the easy quick cash. oh and her hair was deep red and she was a little bit thicker. in a good way.
Good to know I not the only one.. I cant stand most of the other bubble gum stuff on the radio, but I like Kelly Clarkson
the consistent catchiness of kelly clarkson's songs is practically unrivaled, at least in the last decade or so. the people writing and producing those things must be banking something amazing. i mean every damn song she puts out (even the ones i don't like) gets absolutely massive radio play and it stays that way week after week. then the next one comes out and you rinse and repeat. "since u been gone" was the biggest radio song ever on the ARC chart and they've been tracking since 1980. and i don't see how you can't have talent after beating out thousands of other people for one spot. i wish that show would die and don't watch it, but anyone winning it has to have some talent. and no one should throw ashlee simpson in with spears and clarkson. the latter two actually made it on their own, showed talent when younger (star search, american idol) and had enough star power to make themselves famous and stay famous. sure, they had some of the better writers and producers going for them, but they had to get to that point. ashlee just happened to be sisters with someone famous. ok, now i question your manhood. and i have to agree with AstroRocket, how could one not have heard of shakira when posting on this board. that's like not knowing who lindsay lohan or vida guerra are.
I'm not the biggest fan, but I'll defend a fellow latin. Why does she sing in English? She wants to be succesful here too. But it's not like she doesn't sing in Spanish. Infact, last night, the first song was from her current album, an album in English. The 2nd song was from an album that came out just a few months before that was all in Spanish. They are both completely different albums and not just spanish and english versions of the same songs. Because of the English albums she put out earlier, she can now put out an all spanish album that is selling well and her song is played on mainstream readio. Oh, and she has never come close to being a Britney Spears clone. She was kind of like an alternative rocker before and she hasn't strayed as far as some people think.
I saw this thread at work, and I knew not to click it. Now that I am home, I have to defend her. I do like Shakira. She reminds me of those Hawaiian dancers that sit on your dashboard. That's how awesome her hips is. She's bi-ethnic racial mix whatever. Colombian and Lebanese. I love me some Lebanese girls. And Colombian girls, and Canadian girls, and Argentinian girls, and Italian girls, and Spanish girls, and Norwegian girls, and Texan girls. She isn't some mass produced pop girl either. She's been around. I remember reading in I think the Rolling Stones magazine in why she got into music is because she liked Depeche Mode a lot. And it was the first few notes of the song of either Policy of Truth, or World in my Eyes. I can't remember. I'll find a link if they have something on it.
Yeah, I love how she moves her hips and her ass. She used to be a little chubby, (that picture with the red hair), but not anymore.
I have always found her music annoying, and her appearance rather pedestrian. I do love Latin women, but she does nothing for me and there's no particular reason why.
A real man doesn't slobber like a moron over every girl. And I stay away from those threads. They are a bore. I just remember a time when people like music groups becuase of the music. Even growing up as a teenager way back in the '80s, and in my 20's in the '90s nobody liked a music artist because they had a good butt. Nobody remotely thought like that. We weren't that stupid. It was a better time.
don't really know her music but read favorable things in the nytimes about it. i don't usually get into "dance" music and i don't really like the slutty diva fashion style much. however meowgi, i don't get this little crusade you have going against her, i think she's beautiful.
