Wouldn't it be better to make him stay in the program longer? Since he obviously needs help with the "don't do dumb stuff" classes.

    Sigh... SMH

Just another red flag in the still young career of Muhammad.

    Silly rule.

But it does makes sense within the context. When you're trying to have athletes make GOOD CLEAN CHOICES, itd be hypocritical to allow them to party, drug and sex it up on the same premises - when those are the same elements that cause athletes to do down a bad path to begin with.

When you attend to church, you generally go by the church guidelines, whether you're "into" it or not

(Still I don't think its worth slandering a player's name if they break that rule.)

I'm working on my game with the NATIONAL BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION for another 2 days, but pass me those digits.

    How can they say no?

This thread is a microcosm of modern thinking... reject discipline of any kind - blame the system. Personally I think that's a little played out.

I don't think this will (or should) define his career. But this is a talking point that ESPN will rail on for hours and days and weeks to come...

I don't know why people say it's a bad rule. An employer asking for a little focused time from a valuable employee isn't so unusual. If I was going on a company retreat of some kind, it'd be a little unseemly for me to bring some chick in.

They might be grown man physically but mentally they are anything but.
Professional athletes (not all of them obviously) make so many just absolutely moronic decisions, it's probably in their best interest that somebody tells them no every once in a while.
Who knows maybe one of the class in this rookie orientation teaches them how to deal with these groupies so that they don't end up with 9 kids to 9 different baby mamas and a staggering child support bill every month.
