Somehow I'm just thinking, trade all the picks for a solid player. We have enough young talents in Hill, Cbud and if you incline, Taylor. Add in those euros stash away and the still young AB, Ariza. I'm thinking that is more than enough young talent as they are all part of the rotation.
Jordan Hill a 6th pick? What the hell are we even talking about? This draft class is significantly deeper than last year's class -- Jordan Hill would not even crack the Top 10 in this class, especially with its abundance of big men.
You are correct in questioning the trade equality of my proposal. Throw in the worse of our two 2012 picks, or better still, Jermaine Taylor to balance out the trade. Although, as I stated, I'm opposed to trading back, we do need to be aware of the possibilities.
You are absolutely right. I have been saying this from the start. Even all of the experts say that this is one of the better drafts that we have had in a while due to the fact of so many underclassmen declaring early. I think they said it has something to do with the CBA.
I wouldn't part with Jordan Hill just to move up to the #6 spot. I say "just" cautiously since, of course, moving up eight spots would normally be a fantastic proposition. I just don't see a "can't miss" type player outside of the top four picks that would warrant forking over two key assets to acquire just one. I also happen to see little need to potentially target Aminu or Johnson who will both likely be the BPA options at that pick if the draft plays out as expected. I'd imagine if we move up that high Morey would be targeting an NBA ready big like Aldrich, Monroe or Patterson. At the end of the day if he feels that's the way to go, fine. I'm just as happy staying put at 14 (if all other attempts to move into the top four fall through) and drafting a high-upside project like Whiteside, Montiejunas or Alabi.
I take your point, though "not even crack the Top 10" seems a little harsh. I was saying, given that he has a year's experience, he's worth the #6 pick. Whoever you take with #6 this year could well flop. Hill hasn't become a star yet, but he has proven that he belongs in this league, which can't quite be said of whoever comes for the pick.
The Warriors would never do the hypothetical deal. I would think they value Randolph more than Jordan Hill based on what I have seen from a local point of view. Also, the Ws could have drafted Hill last year and passed on him. 6th is also better than 14th and a future late round pick assuming the knicks become a future .500 team in the East with two FA signings. I think the Ws will be on lock down this summer until the change in ownership.
I wouldn't want trade Hill either. Trading him without seeing if he can work well with Yao would be a mistake if he doesn't get us Bosh or some other big free agent name.. He could be the shot blocking four we need with Yao in there we've been craving for.
Randolph >>>>>>Hill Pts, FTs, FT%, Steals, Blocks, Assists > FG% 20 years old > 22 years old Randolph's FG% will hopefully be improved if he's on a team that has other good players down low (Yao, Scola, etc.). Plus, Randolph is probably a 4/5, meaning he can backup Yao at the 5 and start as the 4. Might be quick enough to play tall 3's sparingly. I just hope Randolph doesn't have proneness to injury.
