I would hate to see Scola signed and then traded without him knowing before hand....but if that's what it takes to get Bosh.
Could that happen? Doesn't he have to know if he is going to be signed and traded? Maybe someone can clarify that for me?
I feel the same way. If they use Hill to move up in the draft, though, it is to get a player with even more upside. I think having Hill is great, but he isn't the Holy Grail by himself. I'm sure they're not just going to throw him away, like maybe the Knicks did; they're going to get back value. He's a very nice chip, if they want to trade him, but they only have so many of those chips. They'd better get good value for him!!!
wow. agree with DD for once. I want to see Jordan Hill develop too before trading him (for something potentially too low in return). Basically, I think his market value can go higher...
if the warriors are thinking of moving the pick its to help unload contracts for sure. probably not to part ways with a player of value like randolph. however, ellis and biedrins are also valuable. the least valuable player on a long term deal is maggette. that should make him the one the warriors want to move. now, morey doesn't want to use the expiring contracts of battier and jaffries because he can use that to land bosh. so what else can the rockets trade to take on maggette? hayes, andersen, taylor. nellie would love andersen and taylor, and hayes is expiring.
If it came down to it, I think he would. Toronto would pay him the most in order to match salaries with Bosh, that is, if they want a top 6 draft pick. Jeffries - $6.9 million Hill - $2.7 million #6 pick - $2.5 million (can the Rockets sign and trade a rookie?) If so, that's $12.1 million total. Scola would get around $8 million. That's a nice raise to play I'm sure he won't pass up.
Anthony Randolph makes a lot of sense for this team. I'll give Don Nelson credit enough: I enjoyed watching his team dismantle Dallas in the first round a couple of years back. And he helped re-define roles for players, getting away from the strictly-PG-handling-the-ball mentality. But I'm so relieved that we never wound up with him as coach. I see him as stubborn beyond belief, mulishly sticking to his weird no-defense small-ball who-wants-a-championship-anyway? brand of coaching. While Anthony Randolph probably deserves his share of blame for things not going very well for him so far in Golden State, I can't help but wonder at what point a player just kinda throws his hands up in the air: WTF is it with this guy? If we could shake loose the #6 and/or Anthony Randolph, that...would not suck.
I lke the idea of a randolph-type talent and I know he is super young but the guy just seems like a complete knucklehead. A 60 mil contract? Seriously? Come on man. Could simply seem that way since he is with that train wreck of a team and he might blossom with actual coaching and leadership. I'd be happy if we could get him cheap, but I don't want to give up too much for a guy who is set on a break the bank contract extension.
Scola would love the pay raise but why would Toronto WANT to pay Scola 8 million? Especially if they're going to get the #6 pick in the draft AND Jordan Hill, a player that some have said to have the potential to be a Bosh-like player himself. Also in this scenario, you just effectively depleted our entire PF depth for Bosh. Getting Bosh would make our starting lineup better for sure but I cringe at the thought of any of our starting forwards/center going down with injury and thereby forcing Chuck Hayes and/or David Andersen into the starting lineup.
But back to the original thread, I would gladly take on Biedrins' salary if it means we get to swap our #14 for their #6 and also get Anthony Randolph. It might sound a bit ambitious to get: #6 Biedrins Randolph But I imagine it could be done. Jordan Hill, #14, Jared Jeffries, and the 2011 Knick pick could be good enough since: 1. Hill's potential and rookie salary can be really enticing for a team that is clearly nowhere in a position to win now like Houston is trying to do. 2. Jeffries' expiring contract virtually replaces Biedrins' $9 cap hold after next season and that puts them in a position to be a bigger player in the FA market 3. The Knick pick can be used as a future bargaining chip for them
Which way would Randolph lean though, Odom or Smith. Smith's production saw a healthy increase once they took him out of the 3 and had him stop shooting the ball, whereas Odom allows the Lakers to play a really big with Odom/Gasol/Bynum. Not having seen but a couple of Warriors game this season, plus Randolph's injuries, could you or anybody else shine some light to this part of his game?
Give them Budinger + Anderson and 14th pick for Randolph + Maggette or Ellis + 6th pick. Nothing more, nothing less. Keep Hill just incase Bosh agrees to come to Houston. Brooks/Lowry Martin/6th Pick Wesley Johnson/Taylor Maggette/Ariza Scola/Randolph Yao/Hayes/Miller? Keep Battier + Hill + Jeffries + and one of Brooks for S&T for Bosh?
Alright, if the Golden State pick is actually really up on the trading block, I'd rather see it go down like this than any other option: First of all I hope we are sticking to the central focus of Morey's plan -- and that is to the a S.T.U.D DEMARCUS COUSINS. Honestly, I don't care about attitudes and a fat belly and a rotound ass, this guy is going to be a legit impact player in the league. You want no red flags? Fine, go win the lottery so you can go pick Andrew Bogut in top pick...kthanks The way I see it, is if we can't move into the top 4 directly, then we'll be targetting Golden State's number 6 pick and THEN try to move up 2 more spots with that no.6 pick. Its much easier to move up just two spots from no.6 to no.4 than it is to move up all the way from fringe lottery... I don't see Minnesota targetting anyone specifically at number 4, so instead of reaching for a prospect they like, e.g. Aminu at no.4, they could just go down 2 spots and pick up another prospect, e.g. Chuck Hayes...(don't kill me for this suggestion Im jus sayin') No. 14 pick + Jared Jefferies + Chase Budinger for No.6 pick + Radmanovic and then No. 6 pick + Chuck Hayes + 2012 lottery protected ny pick for No.4 pick
Yea, the more i read about Aminu, the more I like what he could bring to the table. Versatility! I like it. Aminu could definitely serve as the long term replacement for Shane and be a great back up to Ariza. Brooks/Lowry Martin/Budinger/Taylor Ariza/Battier/Aminu Scola/Randolph Yao/Biedrins/Hayes
Man, Nelly is so drunk, his ass would give us the 6th pick for Taylor alone, LOL! For some reason, I believe that Nelly is high on Budinger and Anderson. He has a affinity for soft Euro big men who can shoot from the perimeter. Think Dirk, with less skill.
