The Southern Poverty Law Center has traditionally done a great job and Morris is a great job... But "may" have been arson and "may" have been a hate crime with the only substantive quotes are that there is no evidence of a hate crime? A history of prior theft and breaking and entering?

The fires are and should be investigated but at this point there is nothing to connect the fires, nothing indicating a hate crime and many of them might not be arson related.

If it IS proven to be a series of premeditated hate crimes, then it is a huge story but let's not put the cart before the horse.

I skimmed through the thread... but 3 of the fires were proven to have been natural causes.

A fire that destroyed a Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal church in Greeleyville, South Carolina, on Tuesday was from natural causes and not linked to a spate of fires at similar churches across the South, state police said.

The U.S. Department of Justice is investigating the fires and has so far determined that one was an electrical fire and two others were from natural causes.

Also keep in mind that church fires are often started by thiefs, and are also sometimes started on purpose to collect insurance money.

Arson... especially arson with a racist motivation, is way down the list on the causes of most church fires.

Moral of the story: don't jump to conclusions.
