I think for once in the past 4 years our biggest problem is EFFORT. Think about it. We have TALENT this year. Gone are the days of hoping the dleague all-stars are gonna step up to get us a win. If we got good effort from the whole team then we would definitely be 6-0. We can work on effort.
Dude calm downn...its barly the 5th game of the season. Why are all you guys gettin so down. I mean we have many new additions to the team..just remeber PERFECTION takes time. With Adversity comes thriumpt... and with time carbon turns to DIAMOND.
they played terrible to a memphis team and were close up until the final minutes of the fourth...the same goes with the thunder. heck even last night against the clippers the game was in reach up until the final stages of the fourth. these are "bottom feeder" teams that the rockets just need to blowout out early so our main guys can get some rest and not have to play and log heavy minutes in the fourth against a lottery bound team. if the rockets had brought the same effort against a middle-of the pack team in the nba they would have lost.
I thought the Rockets would be 5-5 to start the season, so 4-2 is a blessing. Injuries - I didn't expect Brooks to return so early, but T-Mac is injured and Battier is still out. Ron Artest/Barry - players need to adjust to them and they needs to adjust to the team. Even though we started out 6-0 last year, we played like crap the entire first half of the season (we were a terrible 6-0 team). So, a slow start this year shouldn't be a surprise.
Great post and excellent points but I would rather just FIRE ADELMAN!! (II)tm. I MEAN WE HAVE LOST 2 GAMES. OMG! YAO ISN'T PLAYING LIKE THE SECOND COMING OF WILT CHAMBERLAIN AND SHE-MAC IS A P(SSSY! ARTEST HAS GOTTEN INTO A FIGHT YET!! OBVIOUSLY WE SUCK AND RICKY SHOULD BE REMOVEDY, YAO, T-MAC, ARTEST SHOULD BE TRADED, VON WAFER SHOULD BE STARTING AND KEITH JONES SHOULD BE PUBLICALY FLOGGED FOR NOT MAGICALLY HEALING YAO AND T-MAC AND TRANSFORMING THEM INTO UBER B-BALL PLAYERS!
I still don't see the point. They played like crap, but they still outplayed the opponent. The fact that their opponents sucked does not matter in this case, unless you want to argue that the Rockets don't look elite by allowing lesser teams to stay in the game. Which I guess I can agree. But by the same token, you will also be saying that Boston sucks because they can't even handle a mediocre also-ran that is the Houston Rockets.
What has upset me about our team is Ron or Tracy when they have the ball dominate it at times and look to take over... in the games I have seen so far this year every time Ron and Jon are on the floor together i see the other teams defense would focus on Ron or Tracy and then Barry would be open at times even asking for the ball and he still wouldnt get it.... the teams Motion on the offensive end is piss poor and the effort is lackidasical and Yao needs to be more aggresive on the offensive end and on the boards... make people pay for their rought play
i hate it when half the building leaves, especially when the game is winnable. note to those who do :if everyone has the same idea as you, your still going to be in traffic!

In general I agree with the OP, but one thing that is disturbing is the heavy mins being logged by Yao and Ron Artest and to a lesser extent T-Mac. I realize the team's not completely healthy and Yao is resting or something during practice, but this is disturbing. Go look at how many mins the Lakers' players are averaging and compare it with the Rockets. Also, there's what will possibly be the Rockets' achilles heel, the PG play of Rafer Alston. He's definitely one of the worst, if not the worse, starting PGs in the NBA. There are many backups in the NBA that are better than Alston as well.
Also, I haven't really been impressed with Brent Barry. He seems a little over the hill and a defensive liability. Hopefully, I'm wrong about Barry.
The difference between a JVG-led team and an Adelman-led team is that the JVG team never takes a night off. We were consistently the hardest playing team under JVG, even when our shots weren't falling. With Adelman, this team has a tendency to just coast.
well JVG never had this much talent to begin with. when you are not as talented, you tend to work twice as hard. we've got a lot of talent (too much) and guys are still adjusting. the chron had a recent article where tracy and artest said they still don't where each guy's favorite spot is. but the important thing is we have unselfish players and guys who are willing to sacrifice. when you have guys like that, it'll come together. i don't think we're "coasting" per say. we're still adjusting so guys aren't going full pedal b/c they don't want to step on each other's toes.
