WOW. Those pillow pics and the bed. Quite disturbing how all the pics tend to resemble a young teenager.

    Pervs?

Hive mentality and repression of sexual desires.

For all its weirdness, Japan is a very conservative state.

Which explains why all of its p*rnography is forcible assault-based? I think Utah is the leading connoisseur of p*rn in the States, so yeah, I guess so.

I'm pretty sure Hirohito would have given up years before Hiroshima if he'd been able to envision this fella:

Best episode of The Dating Game, ever:

"Prepubescent Bachelorette #2, if you were my armpit stain from exerting myself carrying you around all day on the outside of my pillow, what flavor armpit stain would you be?"

    [Dead air.]

"No need to be so coy, Bachelorette #2."

    [Dead air.]

    "Prepubescent Bachelorette #3, same question."

It's ironic that they blur out the bits n pieces in porno because it's required by law.

I read somewhere about a porno mag in Japan devoted on women being assaulted on subways. Weird stuff that might not be mainstream but enough to make one think wtf it's there in the first place.

He has a pillow case for any girlfriend who gives him lip. :D

I dont know man, it still seems odd. Take a country like India where for the longest time sex was repressed in similar manners, yet instead of making people turn to weird avenues like this, society just eventually started to open up on sex. The newest generations have become more and more open on the subject. I think that trend is true in a lot of Asian countries.

But Japan, it seems went backwards. For whatever reason, the newer generations didnt become more liberal and sex didnt become a more open subject. Instead it is still a taboo subject and Japanese people just became odd. So many Asian countries have a similar historical legacy when it comes to sex but only one of them turned into the strange thing that is Japan.

for all of the people asking why the cartoons look like younger girls. one reason i think that would be is because japanese girls on average are thinner, shorter, and look younger then on average. meaning a girl could be 25 and just look a lot younger. i think thats at least part of it.

and also one more thing. thats really freakin weird.

While that is true, the article states that all of them are characters from various animes and all are 10-12 years old.

    Japan culture =
    [IMG]

This is a little bit more twisted than what Leave Japan Alone You b*stard can protect. A nation full of repressed, depressed, suicidal people screwing pillows and blankets with images of adolescent fictional CARTOON not even real people...

Put a pillow with a Megan Fox and Halle Berry image on it, real life babes, and some dudes might be okay with that a couple times in the year...Images of Powerpuff girls and Rugrats girls, a bit more disturbing element to that...

Its one thing if thats just "what they do" and they go on about their lives. But when they're actually killing themselves in high numbers, it means they're not really having a lot of fun over there. It is plenty worthy of mention and critique.

“There are two things you should be mindful of when buying a body pillow,” Okayama whispered as we combed the aisles, trying not to disturb the handful of other men perusing the merchandise. “First, there’s image quality. And then you have to choose one that feels good on the skin.” Polyester, for example, is less desirable than smooth knit.

But what about all the other freakzoids there

Good point. I'm half-tempted to mock up a Megan Fox body-pillow, and take it around with me in public / Starbucks next weekend just to see people's reactions.

    Unfortunately, things I don't own:

    1. a hidden camera button
    2. a lifesize portrait of Megan Fox, preferably in "smooth knit," not polyester
    3. a body pillow

    Bummer.

I think there are some particulars in Japanese culture such as a history of fetishistic and violent sex in Japanese art that goes all the way to the Edo period, Japan's population is more homogenous than other Asian cultures and there is a greater interest in conformity and regimentation that is internalized by the Japanese themselves.

He didn't get his driver's license until he was 34 and still lives with his parents. An obvious sign that he needs help!

Is it perception? What if he thinks people who fall in love with someone who treats them like crap is worse than falling in love with a fictitious character? Both cases are just illusions of the person falling in love.

Sure, why not? Though I would think if that's an issue Catholic nations would have the market cornered, with the veneration of virgins/virgin births.

I think what's vexing is that he is apparently not alone; it appears to be a "thriving" subculture, though the numeric definition of "thriving" is never quite cleared up.

Well then clearly he doesn't know what love is, then.

Just a few things I want to point out in this thread.

    1. Living with your parents in Asian countries isn't actually that rare, mostly due to lack of living space. Granted, this probably does stunt the mental growth of the children, but it's not exactly something that's just outright weird.

    2. As someone who watches some anime, mainly ever since American TV has turned into reality TV 24/7, I'm pretty sure all the girls depicted are of high school age. Which would make them jailbait, but not something extreme like 10-12 year olds. I think 10-12 year olds in Japan would look like kindergardeners to Americans.

    3. The culture is indeed pretty prevalent. I believe 75%(don't remember the exact number, but it's very big) of the PC games sold in Japan are these dating sims, from which girls like nemu are from. So while young Americans grew up shooting stuff in FPS, Japanese were trying to get dates with 2D girls.

    4. This whole thing seems like a perfect example of accelerating Darwin's natural selection. You don't even have to commit genocide to weed out the weak in the society. Just keep them masturbating their whole life and they're never reproduce. :D

Please elaborate; these games sound creepy/fascinating. Is this Leisure Suit Larry all grown up, or some version of the Sims without, hehe, connectivity to the outside world? What are dating simulators?
