I like the topic for this thread, but it's devolving too soon with flippant posts.

Meet elderly people such as your grandparents' friends or volunteer for an organization that assists the elderly. During my teenage years, I learned valuable insights from these older people that helped me avoid the mistakes people truly regret i.e. connecting with my parents in a meaningful way before they passed away. Many wished that they had ignored what society said was right for them, and instead lived the life they desired - salary, prestige be damned. Strangely, I have since then felt like an old man who got a chance to become young again (so much more than carpe diem), and I live my life accordingly.

Other than traveling abroad, I encourage traveling with your mind inside and outside. Read all the greatest works of literature ever written. They discuss ideas that cultivate and strengthen your soul. Also meditate and reflect (and pray if that's your thing) because all the observations and assessments that you might make, say as a manager of your workplace, are useless if that lens can't be turned on yourself. Are you the person inside that you want the rest of the people of the world to be?

Finally, acquire a title that has nothing to do with your job or life at home i.e. you're not just a 'doctor' or a 'mother'. It should be a well-developed hobby or a passion. 'I'm a photographer and a punk rock albums collector' would be what I'm getting at. You can't snap a few family photos and call yourself a photographer. Spend months learning how to do it well, buy quality lenses, and make it a point to explore different things to photograph.

 

AIDS is a myth, and if you don't blow in a girl you can't get an STD.

In all seriousness everyone should know if you replace tomatoes on a burger for beets you will be in heaven. Also, a burger with an egg on it is freaking amazing.

 

Meditate

Not so you can "clear your mind", but to train yourself to focus on what matters.

Get your wisdom teeth removed while you are young and still have a strong immune system. It will mean the difference between being slightly uncomfortable for a day vs being in agony for several days. Seriously, the longer you put it off, the worse your recovery is going to be.

Letting go of a lot of bad !@#$ that happened. This is one that I am still learning, but that is very essential to moving forward in one's life. There will always be questions, doubts and bad memories, just don't let them stop you from moving on. Make new, better memories.

 

If you're going to strive for "more"... before you seek it in the world, demand it from yourself...

How to know if you truly learn from life's painful lessons: when you find yourself doing more, not doing less... When you are greater the person, and not lesser than you were before...

True wisdom opens your eyes to the treasures of life, and dares the adventure of their pursuit... It doesn't blind you to them and shelter you from their risks...

Living life to the fullest is living life to the extent of your passions and quality of your heart/spirit/person.... not to the extent of time or quantity of possessions/experiences...

Never compromise, or sacrifice what you feel deeply to be true to yourself... No matter how much the world around you may seem to insist...

The meaning of life is two-fold; to endeavor to live a life that fills you with happiness all your own.. and to help, or simply allow your fellow man a chance for the same...
