To me, if the Rockets are bring back McGrady, they might have to get rid of Ron Ron.

If Morey wants Tracy back, either Wafer or Artest won't be signed most likely.

If we do sign both, Wafer would be getting MUCH less minutes and he wont
    even hit over 20 minutes.

This only works if we throw someone in with TMac, like Brian Cook. He's got a Player Option on his contract, which he'll take, and we can land Chandler and Peja.

Totally agree with your trade now opinion. Rockets shall not wait for 2010 amd let chances go by. What about Hamilton's situation? I know Detriot wanted to get rid of him to rebuild. if we can get Hamilton and decent pg that will be great. I like Deng and Hinrich also, they can fit well in here. But have to say no to Jefferson. Jefferson is overrated because kidd's help, and his game is downside.

Would Detriot want Tmac expiring contract with AI coming off too

seems like Detriot might want to start over and build with the young guys they have

    Tmac/Barry for RIP/Prince

    Yao
    Scola/Landry
    Prince/Battier
    Artest/Rip
    Lowry/Brooks

Rileydog, gsw looks more like a pretty good trading partner also. Nellie declared the season over very, very early last yr. Also at the end, he was sitting vets for the young guys. Jackson has 4yrs left and Maggette has 4 yrs left. Turiaf has 3 left. Maggette,Jackson, Turiaf for tracy makes sense money wise. That would also free gsw to play azubuikke, morrow, randolph and wright more with ellis and biendrens. A move like that would probably knock artest and von out the picture, but jackson to me is just as good if not better than ron and maggette is much better than von. That would allow u to keep make jackson and battier as starters then bring maggette off the bench in full attack mode. The team would still have 2 good defenders in jackson and battier. Turiaf would give the squad a backup 5 that could also play the 4 for some of those matchups. This would allow the rox to still have cook, hayes, and barry as expiring contracts. That's like 7 m. There are options, its just a matter of les accepting the fact of trying to get it now as opposed to waiting for fools gold.

That is I have been talking about all along. Better be a wishful thinking. Plus, BD 's got a hefty contract, if he screws, we are done.

it is not impossible. Detriot is trying to rebuild their team, that's why they traded their best player billups. It is not Tmac on court they want, it is Tmac huge expiring contract they need. Detriot is going to make some big moves at 2010. And Rip and Princess is not untoughable core again. Detriot fans posted many crazy trade proposels on realgm.com

please keep aging peja, broken chandler, and 'mr. im more hurt than t-mac' baron davis away from any tmac trade rumors.

we have the advantage here. we shouldnt settle for anything. worst case scenario, you have 50+ win team, and a 20 mill expiring contract in the summer.

You dont trade Tracy you let him play out that last year and make a move during that offseason. That 23 mill off the book you can sign a rising player than trade for a player just that matches the contract.

    Successful Trade Scenario
    Congratulations on a successful trade.

Due to Houston, L.A. Clippers, and Toronto being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston, L.A. Clippers, and Toronto had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

considering that the guy quite possibly might be the most desirable trade asset heading into next season, these "i'd trade him for [insert basic foodstuff]" comments that will likely continue are neither clever, original, or remotely witty, contrary to what the hampster running on the wheel inside your head is telling you before you hit submit.

    Two Qs:

1 - can we wait for after the June Parade to initiate this?
2 - when initiated, is it better to deal this summer...or next February? Hmmm.

Anyone have a list of the teams in serious financial trouble?

Unfortunatley, there are alot of teams with major money coming off the books this summer, so we will probably have to sacrafice our pick again this year to be able to compete with them. Odds are we are also gonna have to package McGrady with one of our good cheap young players (Landry, Wafer or Brooks) if we want to get anything of value back.

I personally think we should focus on two way players or hustle guys only to make sure we don't give up anything on defense. I don't mind taking back bad contracts, but Id rather they be serviceable players and cap the bad contracts timer on 3 years or they better be packaged with some really awesome young studs (ala Granger)

Something else to consider is that we still have a glut of wings (Barry, Wafer, Artest, Battier). So unless we are trading one of them away, it seems a little pointless to bring in another one. Because if we do, someone is not going to get enough minutes and that is not an effecient use of cap.

Another problem is our lack of size, mainly at the 4 and backup 5. Even if we brought in a guy like Camby, which I don't think I want too anyway, that means you have to sit Scola and that is a huge mistake. I wouldn't trade for a 4/5 unless it is a clear upgrade at the position over Scola, and to be honest I am not sure there are that many people who fit that bill and are available. (Bosh only maybe?)

Heres my breakdown of one of the potential trades:

    Synopsis:
Getting Davis and one of thier bigs (Kaman or Camby). LA's motivation here is to escape from the long term suckitude they dug for themselves by offering everyone long bad contracts. Davis doesnt try, Kaman is always hurt, terrible coach, etc. It is really tragic because they have loads of talent and no direction whatsoever.

For starters, I don't think LA will give up Camby, he is an expiring himself and I read that they turned down many offers at the deadline for Davis/Camby, so I don't see why they would want to do it now and not then. I know for a fact that Cuban turned down a Kidd for Davis/Kaman deal this past deadline, so keep in mind that just because there is a lot of name power here doesn't mean it is a great deal. I could see them unloading Davis/Kaman for McGrady/Brooks, but should we bite? Both Davis and Kaman have long bad contracts, but fill two huge glaring weaknesses in our lineups without giving up defense(PG, size and backup 5). Both are injury plagued, are overpaid, and make poor decisions with the ball. I have always liked Kaman, and thought he was underated, but having a 10 million dollar backup is a tough pill to swallow and I don't see him starting at the 4 either. He is a craft player/passer and I will admit it would be fun to see a neo twin towers but I am not sold. I worry about Davis because he plays Artest defense, where he gambles alot and his man gets by. He shot 37% this year which is awful and if you think Brooks dominates the ball and dribbles to much, wait till you see this guy. Don't expect Yao to see with the ball anymore with Davis than you do now with Brooks, maybe even less. Davis also doesn't seem to want to play a brand of basketball other than his own, which could be a problem with Adelman.

    Why I might do it
Like I said earlier, this fills up two huge issues for our team and we would be relatively set for 3-4 years. If Davis conforms and can co-exist with Yao, then we could be a zero weakness team, with a very balanced roster. Both of these guys are tough nosed and play with heart. Top to bottom, that is one of the most talented and deep teams in the league.

    Davis/Lowry
    Artest/Wafer/Barry/White
    Battier/Artest/Cook
    Scola/Kaman/Landry/Hayes
    Yao/Kaman/Dorsey

    Why Morey won't do it
Lets be real, Morey doesn't take chances. He is a buisiness man, and those type of people don't take huge contracts for injury prone players. Davis is innefecient and probably would end up costing us. If it doesn't work out, there is no getting out of it. Being cap handicapped for 4 more years could potentially kill our team. Loading up your roster with talent alone doesn't guarantee anything (see Phoenix), you have to pick the right players and the risk is too high to find out if these are the right players.
