it just means we'll have to pray he doesn't turn into the Spanish league MVP, that his buyout is manageable and that he'd like to play in the NBA.

What he said. It's not like we have the roster space anyways this year.

It's not about this year. It's about next year and the need for a backup for Kyle ;)

I am a big AB fan and would love for him to remain with the Rockets. However, I don't see it happening. He is gonna be due a huge raise before next season and I don't see any way that the Rockets can pay their 2 point guards a combined $13-$17 mill($7-$11 mill to ab= just a guess what he could command).

Why wouldn't he? He sees us match Lowry and knows that AB's pay day is coming.....so, he locked up for the same amount of time.

    Smart business.

Does that mean you are anticipating Kyle is going to learn how to shoot  or are you one of those confused souls who think we are better with a younger version of a no-shooting Rafer and defenses parked in Yao's lap daring Kyle/Rafer Jr to shoot?

You just compared Lowry to Rafer. Fail on your part.

If Brooks is traded (doubtful) and Llull comes to the Rockets, Kyle will be backing up Llull.

why not? we own his rights in the nba. if he turns out to be the spanish league mvp next season we trade ab and other pieces for an all star player in a heart beat, we plug sergio in the line up and never miss a beat. hes development plays a big role if we are going to win a championship in the next 3 seasons.

I'm pretty sure this has been posted before, maybe not the finalized version. Anyway, he does have an NBA escape clause like all of these Euro contracts do. Not sure why it's a big deal. If the Rockets trade Lowry or Brooks, they'll spend part of or full MLE to bring Llul over next year.

Oops. Sorry. I knew it. Your one of them!!

Just comparing their shooting ability and scarily, Rafer shoots better. With a center, you need a point who can shoot. Really doesn't matter what else he can do, he has to be able to shoot first to play on the first unit when you have a post up center in that first unit. I found this argument to be pointless many times in the past with you guys who don't understand the game and how it is won when you have a center. Having failed in my comparison, I will bow out to your superior knowledge of the game.

Because if he becomes that great of a player he will have little insentive to leave and will want to come here for a starting role for big money. We'll have to wait and like the Spurs did to finally bring Splitter over.

We couldn't sign him right now even if we wanted to. Not unless he was willing sign for the minimum.

Splitter was a 1st round pick. The Spurs had to wait 3 years for the rookie cap to come off. If the Rockets offered Llul the full MLE and a guaranteed starting job(by trading off Brooks), he'll come here immediately.

Right now, the ball is in the Rockets court. If they really think highly enough of Llul, we will sign him.
