I've been a fan of this cat for a long time now, and wonder if we'll ever get him over here. He keeps improving, and we keep waiting. Thinking about Llull on the court with Dragic and Donatas is an exciting prospect, at least for me. He's a charismatic player. The fans in Houston would love him, IMO. Great job with the highlights, HMMMHMM!
If he can come next year, then we really don't need Teague. Let Dragic or Lowry stay. It doesn't matter who because they both are Good Players. People are just high on Dragic for those games. Its the Jeremy Lin effect.
Won't work. Both deserve to start. Both want to start. Morey = don't lose assets McHale = wants to adopt Goran Lowry = public grousing about the coach to help coach and GM make their choice easy Lowry gets traded, Goran gets paid, and we need a backup for Dragic. I wish we could bring Llull over now, but until 2013, his buyout is huge. But the longer he stays in Spain, the more chance of him resigning there.
His efficiency stats regressed quite a bit from the peak two years ago. Hope it's just a normal up and down, and he can pick up his game going forward.
he's gonna be great in transition. love his high-arching shot. love how he shoots with his legs. good at driving to the basket. looks very athletic. i don't see a point guard, rather i see a combo-guard. If we see him as part of our future, then keeping him over in Europe one more year won't matter. However, if we don't see him as part of our future, we really ought to trade the "asset". Stockpiling assets is futile unless you capitalize on them in some form.
Didn't read this in the past but personally very much agree. I would point also his experience as strength, at his 24 years old he has played already a good amount of international tournaments with the national team and important national and european games with Real. Has won titles and has winning mentality. And is a very smart individual off the court. More weaknesses: can improve FT%, can do a better job defending through screens. And as you said, polish, ability to play at different speeds. Anyway, I wouldn't say he has a low basket IQ, he hasn't.
I liked his shot selection, which is super important for PGs (think Westbrook). He wasn't afraid to dish it, and the only bad shots he took were when the shot clock was running low.
Steve Nash?? He was a blur...and yes...ridic arc in his shot...but...what i was impressed with was his vision on his lobs...lobs are really hard to do...takes mad skill... Llull should be coming to Houston this season...might as well...
Upon reviewing the highlights again, feel I was overly critical of Llull. Most of the difficult shots were due to the shot clock winding down, which I missed. And I love the passion. But I do understand why some question Llull's PG instincts (and whether he is more of a SG). Eg 1st highlight - took an unnecessarily hard shot 3rd highlight - no reason to pass so far behind on a fast break with a full steam, should've tried to commit the defender as a PG and not let the trailer make the decision on who to pass to. 6th - another unnecessary hard shot despite shot clock winding down, could've found other options 8th - up in the air without a lot of options nor a shot, got lucky the flip behind found a trailer 2:45 mark - could've gotten the pass to the 3-pointer a lot earlier without risking getting in the lane/air with no where to go Anyway, still looks pretty good, definitely more combo guard than a real PG
Llull needs to buy a vowel, but he does look like a Vinnie Del Negro type combo guard. He's definitely progressed over the past couple of years. Throws up some crazy shots in that video. Fiery, I like that as long as he doesn't throw basketballs at women referees during pick-up games like some PG's do. I don't see any pouting or laughing on the sidelines when you are losing. Bring him over.
