We don't need a guy that plays balls out or has instant offense this year. Nor a guy that puts a premium on a nice 3pt shot. Forget the fact this guy can play both positions in the back court. Nooooooo not this year....
Rockets have a need for a gritty, role playing combo-guard that can create his own shot and is clutch with the game on the line. Yes, the Rockets should pursue Llull this summer if they don't allocate all of their cap to max FAs. If you want to improve the culture of a team, it is getting guys like this as role players. On a team that lacked effort a lot of times, having someone fiery like Llull would be a blessing.
Because he is one of the better PG's in Europe that the Rockets have rights to and the Rockets are in need of PG play. Particularly ones that can play off the ball and be a secondary scorer, which is exactly the type of player Llull is.
But the Rockets have access to better options this year (cap room), could not aim for something better last summer (only MLE money). He was the absolute best option for what we could afford the last summer but for this one the management can set different priorities and more ambitious options for that position. If I'm Morey, Llull is a priority last summer, he's very down in the list for this one.
I really want him . But I don't think it's gonna happen . He is too happy / paid in Spain and the amount we have to give him to get him to come over is too risky at this point . However Morey does take risks so I would like to see him try it out .
Yeah, maybe the Rockets and Llull were close, maybe not, but then the Lawson trade happened so...also, in his new contract the nba buyout is lower, what's the point in lower the buyout if you don't plan to make the jump sooner or later?
Llull was getting destroyed by Jae Crowder during the preseason when the Celtics were playing Real Madrid. He may be an option if D'Antoni is coach.
I would've said the chance is zero, but then we had this great season. Sure he's burning to join this turrible mess.
I'm a fan, but he's left us sitting at the curb too many times to get worked up about the guy coming over. Having said that, I'd still like to have him.
