That is a bit of revisionist history. Dirk did not shoot well at all in game 4 or 6 but closed strong for most of the series. Terry did get hot, but like I said, that was after he called out Lebron's defense.
Serge Ibaka plays about 25mpg. Calls out another guy for not playing lock down D for 48 minutes. I'm sure LBJ would welcome Ibaka to try and guard him for 48 minutes. He'd love for Durant to try for 48 minutes (Durant would foul out in 10).
great jedi mind trick by ibaka but no need for it. instead, he should have called out his teammates for their lack of focus on the free throw line. Hit them and OKC would easily be up 2-1 on the fabulous divas.
Serge needs to learn to keep quiet. It doesn't matter whether he's right about Lebron or not. Just STFU, block shots, rebound and knock down 15-foot jumpers. His team is down 2-1. Don't give the opponent bulletin-board material. The (few) veterans on that team, along with Brooks and Mo Cheeks, need to sit Ibaka down and set him straight.
@AlexKennedyNBA LeBron James responds to Serge Ibaka: "I don't really care what he says, he's stupid."
He is slowly becoming what every ball player are. He is not THAT KID FROM CONGO any longer. He is now A BIG SHOT. Fame took over. It happens. Oh WELL.
What a smart reply by LeBron. Definitely can't counter "he's stupid." lolol I love how biased everyone is against Ibaka. First of all, Ibaka apparently made these comments to the Palm Beach Post, a Miami / FL oriented newspaper. You don't think that maybe they skewed Ibaka's words or meanings, even just a little bit? This wasn't even a necessary blurb to even mention; ESPN and the media are blowing this way out of proportion.
You seem butthurt about Ibaka's comments. He made the comment. It wasn't taken out of context and it was stupid. LeBron is arguably the best defensive player in the NBA and has been the best defender throughout the playoffs this year without question. To say he isn't even a "good" defender is stupid. Very stupid. I don't think the media is making a big deal about it, but like LeBron said, it was a stupid thing to say. Just as stupid as Lebron and Wade coughing and mocking Dirk last year. Adding extra fuel to someone's motivation is never an intelligent thing to do. It's stupid.
Ha, you serious? I'm not the one who made a pointless thread to bash Ibaka's character, just because he said something. And how is the media not making a big deal about this? The only way to get LeBron's opinion on this, is by reporters or whoever asking LeBron, "Hey, this is what Serge said. Whaddya think about that, LeBron???" The media wants a war of words, since there's no other drama being stirred up. And why would Ibaka knowingly try to fire up the MVP? Maybe Ibaka was trying to fire up his own team; plant a seed in Durant's mind that James isn't a great defender, even though he clearly is. LeBron didn't need to fire back at Ibaka. After all, the great ones let their play do the talking; no need for back and forth barbs.
Who attacked Ibaka's character? Everyone in this thread simply said it was a stupid thing to do. Nobody here, me included went in depth about it and YOU are the one who mentioned Lebron's reply. Lebron simply said people say stuff to him and about him in every series and then the media tries to get a quote out of it, "it's stupid" he said.
Uh, you called him a moron in the OP. Calling someone stupid is bashing their character, imo. And why wouldn't you mention LeBron's reply? It's fair game, no? He could have said "it's stupid," referring to the comment. But instead "he's stupid" rings so much louder. Calling someone a bad defender doesn't give one the right to retaliate by calling them stupid. LeBron could easily say how Ibaka is offensively inept, or something. Easily. And if the media didn't skew Ibaka's words, they sure as heck wouldn't skew LeBron's words, right?
