absolutely- it's terrible, we need to get the **** out of there. But at least, at the very least, there was SOME tie-in between 9/11 and Afghanistan. Iraq was just a disgraceful mark in American history, and that was under Bush. And although other Democrats did vote for it, and are to blame as well, I believe Senator Obama voted against it.

You know, I have to admit, it's rather amusing seeing the Obama haters continue to try to find things to support their position- whatever that is, he's the worst President, he's incompetent, etc. But, in reality, that's all it is- amusing. Because while we value everyone's right to state their opinion, ultimately they mean very little.

If Obama was a 1-term President, there would certainly be reason to question why and use it against him- Carter, Bush Sr. - all have had their legacies taken down a notch due to this. I mean, even George W. Bush had 2 squeakers- and won in 2000 on a technicality. That's always going to be there.

For Obama, he's a 2-term President. He's got that. And he won handily both times. Rates even higher.

He gets his signature legislation passed against seemingly insurmountable odds.

In terms of symbolic gestures, taking down Osama Bin Laden is the equivalent (or near-equivalent) of taking down Hitler. It's huge.

In terms of negatives, a sluggish economy. But a UE that has decreased about the same as Reagan's in 1983-1984.

There are others- drones, initial Obamacare rollout- but you really think that's going to be remembered- a website glitch?

Nope, these poor souls are trying to do something that just won't be done. Obama will be remembered as a good to great President regardless of what they say. The only hope they have is for something dramatic to happen between now and early 2016- after that, everyone will be focused on the election. Two years, fellows. If nothing happens, your attempts will all be in vain. Sniff.

please stop posting about bush, that ship has sailed. Pretty much you and barbara bush are the only ones left.

funny part I'm in england right now and can't get over how much they STILL hate bush. it's really amazing and remarkable how far back bush set america and the whole GOP in terms of world opinion.

I know this is a clown show thread but absolutely laughable considering the level of hatred against bush world over.

but then again we ( as americans) don't care about what people in UK think right? or do we? I mean which one is it?

So the people staying in the bunks around you at the hostel don't like W? Color me shocked.

The author of the piece is a senior UK defense advisor. And he said that Obama is more incapable than W. I'd tend to value his opinion more than your bunkmates at the hostel who haven't bathed in days.

The assistant to the traveling secretary of Luxembourg's Defense Department just said Obama's presidency is a waste!

    See! I told you so!

So would you value the opinion of any other U.K., German, Canadian, French, etc defense advisor that believes that Obama is more capable than Bush?

I'm glad you found one that believes Obama is incompetent, but when you say "I'd tend to value his opinion more than your..." you actually really mean " I value senior defense advisors' opinions.....only when they have a negative opinion of Obama".

Be honest with yourself and tell me I'm not saying anything that isn't true.

I think a better question would be to ask how his fellow soldiers in the bunks next to him felt about Bush, but that's not your style.

So a member of the British military establishment who happens to have a book coming out next month makes a controversial statement sure bring both publicity and pump up book sales. Gosh, what a coincidence. Gates must have been a real inspiration for him.

Following you? No, but I read through this thread, and of course there was a glimmer of hope that you reformed yourself, but again, I was disappointed.

Guess you trolled me again, funny guy. You are really talented in that aspect...I'll give you that.

Disciple? That's pretty disgusting....are you that narcissistic that you consider yourself to be a God? I sure hope not. I would be the last person to follow you for any reason. I prefer humility and treating people as equals, you know, kind of like that awesome MLK guy you have in your signature. I really think you misunderstand the quote in your sig. Have you ever considered that you might be stomping all over his legacy by quoting him and being the exact opposite of his values? Just a thought.

    We're praying for you, Texxx.

lol no I don't consider myself to be a God.

I'm a big fan of Dr. King's. Doesn't matter what you think or say. Dr King himself said that he hoped people would be judged by the content of their character, which is what I also adhere to.

I bet Bigtexxx in real life is a die hard liberal and is playing the Colbert shtick.

He is the Stephen Colbert of the D&D. Damn swell impersonation I must say. [IMG]

Well it's nice that you don't consider yourself to be a God. No one else should either.

Dr. King was an amazing man who inspired others to celebrate diversity and tolerate differences of a physical and intellectual nature. I love how he promoted equality for all. He could even acknowledge the other side of an issue in which he passionately disagreed, state his belief with logic, but still conduct himself with a high level of professionalism and dignity. I guess that's one reason why I don't understand why one of his quotes is located in the general vicinity of your moniker.

I definitely strive to model parts of my life after aspects of his legacy, though like many of us, I sometimes come up short. It's a tough model to follow.

To each his own, I guess. I'll just have to accept your sig choice as a positive thing and hope that I wasn't trolled again. It seems to happen quite regularly though.
