According to the Geneva convention, don't we have to accept his surrender if he offers one?

C'mon, Saddam, give us a verbal time and date stamp on your next "broadcast." That would be convincing.

I just saw on MSNBC that voice experts so far believe that was Saddam. The tape could have been recorded previoiusly. I think he may look older and have glasses now because he hasn't really been seen in public in some number of years.

Hehe...some friends of mine saw a picture of "Saddam" from the tape, I guess, but we didn't know it was the tape. We were just laughing because of the thick glasses and one of my friends said he didn't know Saddam was that blind. Then, they took the picture to use it on a report on Iraq. (just a bunch of pics for them.)

We later took some images of Saddam and went into paint, cut around his mouth and made him talk a little like the one in the South Park movie. AND then, one of my friends took a picture of an old movie picture with a man holding a woman in a dress, but replaced the woman's head with Saddam's head. Let's just say I had an interesting day with Saddam pictures.

BTW, speaking of body doubles, did anyone see a skit on SNL a while back about Saddam with his body doubles? I can't remember who played Saddam, but I think Horatio Sanz and I think Tracy Morgan were body doubles. Pretty funny skit.

I do hope we got him, though. Who knows? Maybe we could be through with the war a lot sooner than we had planned. (I hope so.)

Meanwhile, CIA analysts concluded from computerized voiceprint analysis that it was Saddam Hussein, not one of his lookalikes, who appeared on television shortly after the U.S. attempted to kill the Iraqi leader and his top commanders early Thursday morning in Baghdad.

The officials, however, still aren't sure whether his appearance was live or prerecorded - leaving open the question of whether Saddam was killed.

An initial, unconfirmed intelligence report said that Saddam's son Qusay, the feared leader of Iraq's secret police, and others had been killed in the air strike, according to another official.

One official noted that Saddam made no specific mention of the attempt on his life, which he called "surprising because if he had survived you'd think he'd want to taunt us about how even our best weapons couldn't kill him."

How the hell do you get hit by 40+ missles and bunker busting bombs and get "wounded"? He must've ate his Wheaties. :)

Didn't he mention March 20th as the date in his address? But of course he could've recorded himself saying dates all the way out till next year, so who knows I suppose.

More from the Washington Post on Saddam being in the building that was attacked. Hopefully they got him.

"The preponderance of the evidence is he was there when the building blew up," said one senior U.S. official with access to sensitive intelligence. The official added that Hussein's sons, Qusay and Uday, may also have been at the compound. "He didn't get out" beforehand, another senior official said of the Iraqi president.

A third administration official said "there is evidence that he [Hussein] was at least injured" because of indications that medical attention was urgently summoned on his behalf. The condition of Hussein's sons, and any others who may have been at the compound, was also unknown, officials said.

If Saddam and his sons were dead, you'd think this would already be over. I imagine at least one of the 3 is still alive, calling the shots as we speak.

Saddam may very well be dead. My fear, though, is that Andrew McCarthy and Jonathan Silverman are going to attempt to make it appear as if Saddam is still alive as part of a plot to get hold of all those billions Saddam has stashed away abroad.

I just heard on ABC Radio that eyewitnesses in Iraq are claiming to have seen Saddam on a stretcher with an oxygen mask over his face after the attack...that he was at least injured.

Actually a lot of US reports are saying that the Iraqi Army is breaking down. Some military oficials were quoted on Fox News as having said it seemed like they lacked specific orders and they thought that could be attributed to the initial strikes.

The high command in Iraq does seem to have fallen apart. It seems that the initial strikes - a sort of 'shoot from the hip' strike - achieved a head shot with one round. I believe that Saddam and his top commanders were in the building when it was struck, Saddam probably is injured - possibly very badly - and that at least a few of his top commanders were killed. Their command appears to be absent after the initial strike. Their troops are not putting up a coordinated defense anywhere in the country.

Orbat is now reporting that Uday was killed in the attack.
