I am just curious whether Cuban would complain to NBA about the terrible calls in favor of his team...... I think that will help his personal image. Maybe, he is so low that he is laughing in his dreams tonight......
Sent mine too... Dear NBA, When I turn on the TV to an NBA game, I expect to see bad calls, pure mistakes on the part of the officials. The TV analyst catches about 3~6 bad calls a game. I also expect superstar treatment. I expect to see certain players officiated differently. These things have been conditioned into me by 13 years of NBA fandom through the words of various TV analysts, video replays, and even a few admissions by the NBA that an official made the wrong call on a buzzer beater. Now, I know that officials are human beings and make mistakes, but if the official makes a blatant mistake in the final minutes of a game, there must be a way to make the officials responsible for their mistakes (As advocated by Mr. Cuban a few years back.) These officials are supposed to be pros and are paid handsomely as such. In the waning minutes of Game 5 between the Mavs and Rockets, Michael Finley knocks the ball out of Jon Barry's hands while coming in from out of bounds. I'm sure you know which incident. It is very frustrating as a fan to see the replay of this particular play only to confirm that both of Mr. Finley's feet were clearly out of bounds(Mr. Kerr agrees with me)... This is the Playoffs... "WIN OR GO HOME"... Very dramatic logo, but sort of looses the edge when the average fan cannot clearly distinguish in his mind which team was the better. I hope to see some better officiating in the future, and so do fans of other teams. As for tonight's game, please tell Mr. Stern that I want my money back.
Sent mine. Won't repost but keep 'em coming. Someone's going to have alot of reading to do this morning.
Sent....Isn't part of the labor agreement this summer to determine how much power D. Stern has considering the suspensions after the Detroit incident? I used to have respect for Stern, but I think he thinks himself a "rock" star now, not really a worker, but someone to be admired and adored. I told him I hope his power is reduced significantly because, for the league to thrive, we need someone who can handle the game part of the job, not just the marketing.
The second worse call was that phantom 5th foul call on T-mac when he supposedly fould Dirk going to the basket. Didn't happen. Even Steve Kerr disagreed with the call. He also pointed out the bad foul call on Scott Padgett and the total ref melt down on the out of bounds steal. You can't beat the Mavs and the refs.
You can try to fax and call too... NBA Phone Number 212-407-8000 National Basketball Association Olympic Tower, 645 5th Ave., New York, NY 10022 Commissioner: David J. I sent a my letter to Mr. Stern. Doubt it will do any good, but I tried to make it sound like it was coming from an unbiased basketball fan since I live in Arizona. The lousy, biased, lopsided officiating has been going on for years in the NBA. The NBA is about marketing and they do whatever they can to promote the product that they want. I still think Stern is PO'd at the Rockets for beating the Knicks in 1994. Sometimes even the ref's can't control the outcome. If you look back at pictures of the trophy presentation in 1994, Stern sure appears to be wearing a tie with Knick colors. I guess Yao hasn't paid his dues yet. The league was hard on Hakeem during his early years too. Now if Yao played for the Lakers or Knicks, then it would be a completely different story.
It would also be great if someone could start a petition to support Jeff Van Gundy and to protest the biased and blatant officiating. Its easy to start a petition but for it to be effective you need to have a good statement/letter: http://www.petitiononline.com/create_petition.html I gotta go to an interview soon so my mind is occupied with other things, plus I am not a good writer
Just curious. I have not heard any comments from Les Alexander regarding this issue. I would think that owner of our team would back his team by saying. Don't worry Jeff, let me help you with that $100,000 fine. I mean I think that the owner of the Rockets should be speaking up and defending his coach and team. We always hear about Cuban. Where is our owners voice???
Sent-- Mr. Stern, I am very concerned regarding the poor officiating in the Rockets/Mavericks series to date but especially the subpar performance by the referees in Game 5. I am sure you are aware that several calls made in that game were blatantly incorrect and hope that you take steps to make sure that future games are called more fairly. The officiating must become more consistant and should not outright affect a teams ability to win. Perhaps you might consider using the NFL system of giving the coaches a couple of "challenges" apiece for replay review of calls. Thank you,
