Senate Dems Prepare to Grill Trump AG Pick William Barr

As long as he steps back and lets Mueller finish his thing with no interference, I'm ok with him.

 

Are you okay if he operates legally but coaches Trump how to clean up with the pardon power like he did Bush Sr during Iran Contra?

I personally think “The Mueller report” is being kind of overblown anyways and we are more likely to find out the prosecutorial findings via court filing where Trump will be “individual 1” and that’ll be Congress’ cue to start impeachment. Under the regs, if Mueller wants to communicate “a report” to Congress there needs to be a rejection of something by Barr. Then he’s bound by the statute to send report to Congress what was rejected.

So if Mueller never sends an indictment or a subpoena request that Barr and him disagree on we probably will never hear from Mueller in the form of a report. Congress needs to Start laying the groundwork for them following behind court filings. They should be ready to impeach on moments notice and not use the excuse of waiting on Mueller or Trump likely will never be impeached during this term because Mueller likely won’t be done for a long time.

I too am ok with him based on the low low bar that Trump has set with past AG’s. I think he’s smart enough to know how to stay out of jail and is at a point in his career where he’s not risking his own hide for Trump, but he is obviously a team GOP player and FoxNews watcher and will legally do what he can to clean up shop for the Republican Party.

What a bizarre response. Where was any question about barr's approval. His approval was pretty much a sure thing going into the hearings. If anything, Democrats are now celebrating his nomination and will easily approve him based on his answers to the questions about obstruction and suborning. If barr doesn't become AG, it would likely be more the result of trump withdrawing his nomination (based both on his answer to Klobuchar's question and the close friendship barr has with Mueller).
