We wouldn't have had that problem if it wern't for NBC. Australia vs. USA was supposed to be the fourth game, but NBC complained about it not being on at Prime Time.

Either way, it would have been better if '7', played the game on delay, instead of having us miss the first quater and a half. I can't wait for London. Our team will be much more experianced, with some new talent and a new coach hopefully. Plus Channel 9 will cover teh games not 7.

    Hopefully the same coach!!

There may be no national competition in Australia by 2012 though...

They need to do hat the A League did for Soccer. End the NBL and begin again. Give it a season off, then hype the return of Basketball.

How do we go about getting Sydney Rocket banned?

All he adds to the conversation are extremely aggressive and one dimensional opinions and is not willing to accept the opinions of others without being disrespectful?

I know i don't come here to see people arguing with each other, and attempting to offend other people.

Also - Why would you name yourself Sydney Rocket when all you are doing is being unpatriotic and bashing Australia?

He annoyed me with his comments about Australian Basketball, but banning him would be censorship, and censorship is just plain wrong.

So lets see if he can develop into a more beneficial poster to have around clutchfans. If he comes with attitude, you know people are gonna let him know about it - and the results could make quite humorous reading.

Sit back and watch the flames.

This is a Houston Rocket website - this is isn't an NBL fan site.

    Who cares?

How am i going to get flamed if i've just posted about hating Australian basketball?
    Not Houston Rocket basketball?

    And Rocketfish - pathetic.
Or should i just tell everyone that we're brothers and you're just being an idiot?

First of all - you could cop a hiding from the large Aussie contingent on here.

But I was talking more about your general attitude. If you reason and argue your points with insults instead of intelligence, then you could be in for a rocky ride.

I don't think you are likely to do that, just got off to a rough start because of the whole Aussie ball issue.

Look forward to seeing what you bring to the BBS.

I don't mind if i cop a hiding - it's the internet - it's the place everyone shows their opinion.

My opinion is that, i dislike Australian basketball.
Your personal preference is that you like Australian basketball.
I don't mind that you like it - just as you shouldn't really be caring if i don't like it. It's actually not really too big of an issue.

If people want to hate me around here for that, than so be it.
This is a Houston Rocket fan site - and being a fan of the Houston Rockets is why i - like yourself - am here.

I don't mind coming here and having arguements with a few people - because reading some of the arguements between a couple of members go back and forward is actually quite hilarious.

But the bottom line is i don't think there will be too many arguements because the only reason why i've even spoken on the topic is because the US just happened to play Australia.

I give it maybe a week until i stop posting about Australian basketball - and than everyone can go back to doing what they did before this topic came up.

But if i insulted people before - than i guess i apologise.
although i did already apologise to the guy whos post i misread.

    Basketball is Basketball is Basketball.

If you can't appreciate the NBL - at least dont bag the crap out of it. Not to mention bagging out the players in the National team.

    Learn to respect the sport.

Your attitude reminds me of a primary school aged kid, crapping on about the NBA because you can collect player cards or whatever, but not even really giving a damn about the game of Basketball itself.

    Not quite.
The NBA is the NBA - the NBL is the NBL.

2 completely different types of basketball; and if you think they're the same than Lord help me.

I've bagged out Mark Worthington - because look at the way he acts on the court.
In reality i've only bagged out about a couple of basketball players on the team.
Bogut - because as soon as he was drafted he mentioned he was the best player to come out of Australia. Now do you agree with that comment? Considering we all remember the Andrew Gaze saga ?

I don't bag out all the players - just ones i have problems with.
If Jason Smith was in the team you'd be hearing me say how much i like him.
Patrick Mills has really grown on me these Olympics and i'm hoping he makes the jump to the NBA.

Talk whatever rubbish you want but i wouldn't have been playing basketball for as long as i have if i didn't respect/appreciate/or like it.

Learn to accept the fact that just because i'm Australian doesn't mean i have to like the NBL - or players of the National Team.

Do you hear all the American people hating on each other because some of them were talking crap about Melo?

Resort to calling me a primary school kid it doesn't really phase me. It doesn't bother me one bit that you can't see past the fact i don't need to like the NBL.

I don't quite understand why you are being such a r****d... really, why?

How can you be so against Australian basketball, did Andrew Gaze say something mean to you when you ran up to him to get your chest signed??

But from your posts I kind of get the feeling your a jilted Sydney Kings supporter... it's not solely the NBL's fault the Kings folded, your r****ded owner was a dodgy p**ck..

I've got nothing against Andrew Gaze except his ridiculous commentating.
HE is the best basketball player from Australia.
I'm saying that's why i don't like Bogut - because he claimed he was the best the minute he was drafted. I'm sure people here would say Gaze is a better play than Bogut has been.

But don't worry - i never was a Sydney Kings fan.
    Ever.

No free to air coverage at all. Hasn't been for over a decade. Back then we used to get one game a week. (Whoopee doo da)

With pay TV, we get ESPN but it's not an "International" version which pisses me off because you wind up seeing more soccer, rugby etc than Bball. They show usually 2-3 games a week live. They add a couple extra here and there during the playoffs.

And Fox Sports on pay TV shows usually 2 a week during the regular season - but for the last 2 years they haven't had rights to show the playoffs. What a joke. They pump up their NBA coverage with ads all year and then don't show the most important stuff!

This is what you fail to understand Sydney Rocket.
We are not saying you have to like the state of the NBL. The NBL is in a terrible state and the quality is far below par.

However it is our duty to support it in any way possible. I do it by coaching the sport at a junior level and soon a representative level, (For non-aussies, junior level is just young kids playing for fun, and representative is more like High School ball, then as they get older college ball. A higher level of Basketball).

Now, instead of bagging Aussie basketball, we need to try and pump it up. We need to get people watching the sport. If people watch it more money will be able to be put into the sport. Therefore the quality of Basketball will get much better.

There is nothing wrong with having a realist opinion on the state of Basketball in this country, but we still need to support it.

I accept your opinion - unlike aussie rocket who fails to realise others may have their own opinions.

But what you fail to understand is that i don't need to support it.
Do you follow the Dallas Mavericks?
    Do you support them?

I'll more than likely find that your answer is no.

    Do i follow the NBL?
    No.
Why do i need to support it?
I don't need to support it - you just think i should.

I'm completely done with this topic so i won't bother acknowledging this thread anymore.

    Your logic is so twisted.

Why should we support Dallas? Dallas certainly doesn't need any help and it's not our country of origin.

Australian Basketball in general should be supported. Whether you like the NBL or not, you shouldn't come on here bagging the **** out of it.

    It's just uncalled for.
