We actually had a die-hard Longhorn fan in our league last year who decided to take every Longhorn available. He took Vince Young in the first round, Cedric Benson in the Second...then he talked all kinds of ***** to the rest of us when he "stole" Selvin Young in the third round! We appreciated his donation.
Ryan Moats is probably set as the replacement for Slaton. He was a 10.9 sprinter as a high schooler, had a great college career at LA Tech and was a third round draft choice. He broke an ankle right at the point when he should have been breaking out as a player. But he is healthy now and is coached up in our system. He's not the big back, change of pace to Slaton but I think he'll be adequate insurance at the scatback. Jeremiah Johnson sounds like he will be the third guy at that spot and only needs to be coached to stick with one cut.
I grew up with Selvin, and I have heard that he would love to play here. One of my best friends, is pretty close to him and says that he thinks he will get a tryout from a number of teams, and that Houston will be one of them.....take it for what its worth
We have Chris Brown too, remember? The depth chart currently looks like: 1. Slaton 2. Brown 3. Moats 4/5. Undrafted Rookie FA's.
So, are the reports about his neck injury pretty accurate? Is he going to be ready to contribute to a team this year, or will he need surgery/therapy that may sideline him?
