Completely agree. They've have four great summer league games, and I have no problem selling now. It's hard to let them go when they're shiny and new, but that's exactly when they have the most value. And keep in mind, the thrill of the new is temporary. There was a time we felt this way about Budinger, Patterson, Brooks, etc. In a few years, they'll be old news, their weaknesses will be much better understood, and some new rookies will capture our imagination. None of these guys are superstars. Sooner or later, we're going to have to give them the big, midrange Luis Scola/Kevin Martin contracts that bog down the rosters of so many teams - or lose them for nothing as free agents when some other team does. Dwight, meanwhile, is the most valuable of all commodities - a true superstar who will outperform the value of his contract by a considerable margin. Obviously, we want to keep as many of our young assets as possible so we can put them on the court or use them in trades, but we shouldn't think twice about including any of these guys in a deal for Dwight.
Right now the rookies are just potential. NBA front offices will be scouting these SL games, and have a better idea of the impact these young players will have in the NBA than any of us. Parson's 1 game in the summer league gives us an idea how a somewhat better than average NBA player fares in the SL. If I remember correctly he just sorta dominated the minutes he played. And by the way I am optimistic that, in the future, when discussing how diamonds can be found in the rough of the NBA second round, Parsons name will come up.
I would make Lamb untouchable. White and Jones I am ok "selling high" on. But if we do that we would have to keep Patterson. The most we could offer would be two out of three from White, Jones, and Patterson. As many PF's as we have, we would go into deficit trading all three.
