I always use self checkout and the clerks are never happy or smiling which I get. Work sucks, they don’t want to be there. Self checkout is faster cause I scan that ho fast. And I’m out da door. I only go to full service if it’s a fine Latina with curly hair full of personality. That’s when I spit game.
It blows me away to think about this. I imagine theft/fraud increases with self checkout - one poster here admitted to ringing up organic bananas as regular bananas. My grocery store turned off the scales because it was slowing down self checkout (items do not have to be bagged). Someone could very easily not ring up everything. Despite this, stores prefer self checkout to paying a human. Wild.
Paying a human is probably still more expensive. lol. And, then, on top of that they whine about everything.
I've seen people scan one, put 2 or 3 in the bag, then scan another and repeat. One family paid with a $20 bill and left with bags full of meat, beef, chicken, and 3 packs of spare ribs. The mother with baby was distracting the employing working the self checkouts while the daddy and the oldest kid did the "scanning" and bagging. It was a pathetic sight.
Man I’ve never paid attention to this. No wonder I see these slow ass people with 200 items using self checkout, they’re trying to get half of it for free. This is common Walmart behavior. HEB’s self checkout is like 15 items or less so on our big grocery day we use regular checkout. For everything else I only go for the self checkout. As for organic bananas, is there a more pointless product? The skin is like 3mm thick, there isn’t anything on that banana.
Yep, Walmart is where it took place. The kid helping dad was maybe 12, 13 and I doubt it was their first time. The store must have been aware of it because as I was walking out they were being escorted back in and mom was crying, "I need to go, my other baby, is alone in the car."
I HATE the self-checkout and I only use it if I have a few items or if I need extra bags for my cat's litter box........I will put one thing in each bag and then triple bag everything, Target has great bags for this purpose.
Online pickup for a big order and self check for smaller orders. I can't remember the last time I had a human check me out. I find we spend less money doing it online. My wife can't impulse anything while she's shopping in the store. I don't think there is an extra charge for HEB or Kroger to pick up online unless you need it in an hour (HEB) or you have an order for less than $20 (Kroger).
That person is probably trolling you too. Standing there and watching everyone check out must be a boring job.
Do they ever ask you why you buy so much Jergens? Self checkout for me unless I have a large cart full. I shop so many places just to get what I need. H-E-B, Trader Joe’s and then a few items at Walmart and Kroger. I’m one of those weird dudes that actually like getting out to shop.
HEB has prices on everything marked up 3% even if you do the "free" curbside 2-4 hours in the future. There is an extra fee if they have to use a personal shopper for a rush curbside.
Lady tapes barcode to her hand for self-checkout My guilty conscience would never let me do stuff like that.
