The problem w/ the Volt is the expected price will be ~$40k. The costs have steadily increased closer and closer to it's release date.

That depends on how far down the rabbit hole goes and how much you believe in this conspiracy.

If you're believing that only the big 3 are responsible for squelching innovation for alternative fuel cars, then you're probably wrong - they've been doing it for many decades and will continue doing as hard as they can.

If you believe that they're in cahoots with oil and gas companies, then you're even more wrong - such companies are very very strong and will do anything they can to quiet such innovation.

People resist change until it becomes a necessity, I think people know that the Oil is running out and we need to change before it is too late.

    Yes we can.

actually, this idea is being employed by the Aptera .

Because it is a three wheeled vehicle, it's considered a motorcycle and is already allowed on HOV lanes. I would suspect anyone else making their hybrids/electrics/whatever with only three wheels would get the same benefit. Three wheel vehicles in the past have been somewhat precarious or dangerous because the solo wheel was in the front, but on this it is in the back and apparently that makes it more stable.

Oh, and the aptera supposedly tested at a minimum of 100 mpg, depending on distance travelled and speed.

California only, for now, but slated to be in production... like... now-ish.
