I think there is very good reason to believe that services such as those provided by USPS would be run much more efficiently if privatized completely.

And yes, 800,000+ jobs lost is crippling and a big hit, but it will eventually create more jobs through the process of privatization that will benefit the infrastructure of America in the long run.

I would bet my office has a higher percentage of people with advanced degrees than yours.

Including the guys in the warehouse and the admin help, our workforce is around 90% college grads and I would guess about 2/3 of those have at least an MA. Plus, about 80% have some kind of incident response qualification which can sometimes take years of classes and training to attain (in my case 8+ years) or some other specialized education/training they got on the job. Jobs include: botanist, biologist, forester, archaeologist, engineer, geologist, lawyer, hydrologist, soil scientist, range conservationist, fire officer, realty specialist, etc.

brooks privitization creates jobs who only make the 1% rich according to democrats so democrats have to create the jobs so they can overpay workers who are harldy worth minimum wage well over that.

Private companies are evil and only the boss who puts up all the capital and takes all the risk profits. When of course he puts his neck on the line and the small people like cashiers, etc don't have anything at risk.

Democrats want you to take all the risk in opening a business, your money, your credit, etc and then share all the wealth

    1. Wrong regarding your office vs. mine.
    2. A degree alone is a terrible barometer. That's table stakes.
    3. On some of the outdoorsy specialist stuff like hydrologist, soil scientist, etc you could get some good talent, since people are willing to take less pay to pursue their passions. Now the IRS, FERC, etc -- different story.

I will remind folks that the DMVs are state government. My theory as to why every wing nut everywhere hates DMV is not because of the people that work there but because it is one of the last great equalizes in our society. You have to go to DMV and stand in line with everyone else and sit next to some person you would never give the time of day to while you wait for your photo. You can pick the wing nuts out at the DMV like clockwork... They are always the ones with the crinkled, disgusted look on their face or standing uncomfortably as far away from everyone else as possible and pretending to be more important than all others.

Also, USPS is a quasi- government org that is not subject to the shutdown. Maybe it is me, but I have always found it remarkable that I can drop a letter off and in three days it is delivered to the right place on the other side of the country. People who complain about USPS have no understanding of logistics and what a routinely remarkable thing they do all the time.

Talk to me about USPS when they can operate their day to day functions without falling $15 billion in the hole.

bc it's not feasible!!!!! Running a business is about making money, the government runs usps as a loss bc they're running a charity from servicing rural areas nobody will service to overpaying workers who couldn't get the same pay in the private sector. Like everything else the government meddles in they do a terrible job.

The people that work there have no customer service skills whatsoever, that's why people hate the post office. I probably go there once or twice a year and whenever I go it's bc it's something I can't handle from home so yes I need help finding the right form, but god forbid you ask for help and the overweight african american women at the one off of bissonnet, yes they're all african american are lucky that they have a job there because they seriously god care less. There was a time last year when I went and with 3 cash registers there and about 15 people in line, 3 girls were busy chatting behind the counter and left us all to wait about 45 minutes while the 1 cashier processed all of us.

If that was my small business, I'd say get to work and take your break when we're slow. That's the difference, the government has no oversight, nobody has a reason to care, nobody gets a pay raise or makes more money if we're processed faster, a small business owner doesn't want a line because a line might make someone who walks in turn away, which btw did happen while we were in line.

As someone who has to deal with the EPA, I would say that the estimation of 94% of it being non-essential is way too low.

Yeah because that's been your problem.

You know nothing of running an actual small business. What you do does not constitute running a small business. It's a hobby that you've gotten lucky on.

Small business love lines. It means they're busy. It shows the public driving or walking by that whatever their place is selling is in high demand.

You're a moron the reason USPS runs at a loss is because congress doesn't allow it to use a lot things it invented such as online bill pay in order to protect special interests. Again you talk too much and it's a matter of time before I expose your stupid @$$ to this board.

The USPS bit reminds me of the talk I had with one German friend a few months back. he told me that the German postal service is currently reduced to a box found in any random shop used for sending and receiving mail. But, yea, that government shutdown will hopefully show US citizen that their country will not go into anarchy if a sizable part of their federal gov is shut down. And I hope the EPA is shut down for ever; such a cringe worthy bastion of climate alarmism.

No business likes queues as it puts off potential customers without them even having a proper look at your value proposition. Their is a whole area of research devoted to eliminating queues as much as possible.

Right, who cares about the environment, let's pollute to no end and see what happens.
