Is that admittance? Can we get a clutchfans ruling? This could make another Señor wrong in the process...
Incoming kewlstorybro; the first time I saw Dazed and Confused was at the Glastonbury fest in England summer of 95; nothing funnier than hearing that Texas twang in a tent, in the UK at some massive fest.
Love doing that, last one I did was a screen of Night of the Living Dead with Romero and the cast in attendance, film used was one of the original films still in existance from it's original run with all its wear and tear on display, it was very cool.
Seriously? That movie would be average at best without all the bells and whistles that 3D put into it. DD
I am one of those people that does not go to the theater anymore. I hate missing out on new releases, but it's cheaper to buy the movie and we also do netflix. I may not get the "theater experience", but we happen to like watching movies alot more at home. Feel like the sound is better and the picture quality is better. 110" screen, great speakers w/ 2 15" subs and recliners. Alot more comfertable at home. Of course we love watching movies so thats why we got all that so we could do it at home instead.
It was an ok movie. Have they started designing 3-D glasses for those who wear eye glasses? Its a big turnoff wearing those glasses.
I don't know, I guess you have to put them on over the top, but Juicy, honestly if it comes to a theater, go see it......it is about 20 times better. DD
That sounds like one of those magical freaky things you sort of fall into. Well, here's my story. Not a story about seeing a flick, and something I've told here before, but I just woke up and feel like telling it again. Pink Floyd and America were playing at a park in Amsterdam in 1971 for free. America opened and were surprisingly good, not being one of my favorite groups, and Floyd was just getting into their gig when the skies opened and a monsoon ensued. We sat in the deluge, thousands of us, as you can imagine, and simply took it, like drowning rats running amok in a cheese factory, until the fellows on the stage threw their hands up, said it killed them to have to do it, but that they were getting zapped electrically up there. Being the Dutch, there was only a bit of a collective groan and the crowd started to leave in a very orderly fashion, the drifting smells of various groovy substances still wafting about from under umbrellas. My buddy and I didn't have one, of course. Soaked to the skin, we managed to get on a tram to the central city. There sat a stunning, tall blonde, with a figure created by the gods, on the window seat, with a 250 pound chick sitting on the aisle. The next stop, Ms. Piggy started to rise to get off, and I shoved my friend aside in a rush for the empty seat, getting there just ahead of him. Talked about the concert, which she'd come from herself, equally soaked, and ended up asking her if she'd like to get off at our stop to have a beer with us. She said yes. The beer turned into one of those nights you never forget. Window seat girl, who turned out to be 19 and from Haarlem, and I got smashed, walking the streets that glimmered from the rain that had fallen earler, talking for hours until the last train to Harleem. Got her address and number, called the next day, and it was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Sorry for the off-topic story, but they did show some cartoons before the first act.
I decided to check this out. The phrase "...in all it(')s glory..." a cliché, so I just searched the tubes of the internets to see how it's written by most (newspaper and magazine websites). RULING: no apostrophe. 2ND RULING: Swoly is a knob who really needs to chill on the grammar police thing because I'm so close to putting him on ignore.
I always enjoy outdoor screenings of classic films in public parks.. in NYC they had screenings in Bryant Park in the summertime. there's a similar event at the "Hollywood Forever" Cemetery that is screening Saturday Night Fever and Airplane! this summer http://www.cinespia.org/ OP, where are the screenings happening in your neck of the woods?
 Yeap. Continue to use it. You can continue to be wrong EVERY TIME and you will think of me EVERY TIME. I will haunt your dreams. You will think of me EVERY TIME YOU USE AN APOSTROPHE (incorrectly). Sweet success.
I'd love to watch Ben-Hur on the big screen. The chariot race is probably my favorite movie scene. Warning, if you haven't seen the movie, I highly recommend you skip this clip. It gives away a major plot spoiler. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpoK...8E0B8E6F0&playnext_from=PL&playnext=1&index=1
As long as it's not a ******* chick flick I'm happy to see any of the classics back on the big screen...
Saw Alien a few years ago at MFAH and had a great time. I keep meaning to check out the Saturday midnight movie at River Oaks theater, but I haven't yet.
I invested a lot of money into building a great home theater (200" screen, stadium seating, etc.), and Netflix has worked out great so I rarely go to theater anymore. Having said, there's something about going out with the significant other, and watching movies like Star Wars, Dark Knight IMAX or Lord of the Rings on a bigger screen with an audience full of strangers on a Friday opening night.
