I saw Star Wars in a theatre the day it opened, young padawan. Truly mind blowing. The special effects had never been done before. True, movies like 2001: A Space Odyssey had incredible effects, but they were different and very, very difficult to produce. Not nearly as seemingly effortless on the screen.

I want to see the original Clash of the Titans in the theater.

Also Exorcist, so kids now can truly appreciate a horror movie... unlike all these SAW P.O.S. movies.

Seeing 2001 at the River Oaks theater about five years ago is my number one movie going experience. Bliss for a Kubrick fan. The triumphant bone as tool scene, then cut to spaceship is just awesome!

I don't even like watching new releases in the theater anymore. I would rather wait for them to come out on DVD and then watch them. I have a pretty nice TV and a really comfortable couch. Every time I have been to a movie recently there has been something that annoyed me - people talking, kicking the seats, uncomfortable seats, etc.

One of my best friends is exactly like you. As a result, he doesn't get nearly the experience that a good movie produces in a good theatre.

My greatest movie-going experience was a Buster Keaton/Charlie Chaplin double-feature ("The General" and "The Gold Rush"), screened with a live organist playing on a classic Wurlitzer theater organ. I'm not even a huge silent movie fan, but I was just enchanted.

There is something magical about seeing a movie in the theater that no home theater can capture.

Can you imagine missing Avatar in all of it's 3D glory by waiting for the DVD?

No, I can't. In fact, the experience in a good 3D theatre is what makes it a good flick.

    Swoly

You do know you can use apostrophes for possesive uses, right?

Heck dude it is RIGHT THERE IN THE PICTURE YOU PUT UP.

I need a grammar police ruling here......

    Seriously !

I won't even buy the DVD until I can get it in 3D....it is that important to that film.

Yes, I do know that, but that's not YOUR usage. There is no apostrophe in the word "its" as in "the 3D glory that belongs to the movie".
No, it's not. If you had said "The movie's 3D glory", you would be correct. You don't know the difference between "it's" (contraction of "it is") and "its" (belonging of "it"), sir. I DO.

Sure, let's get a ruling... another poster's opinion. Why not? It's fair.

See I think we are talking about the movies glory.

    It's Glory....."it's" being the movie.

A lot of people in my family are like that. I feel like the experience in the theatre cannot be beat. The only place where it isn't so great is when I go to see a movie at River Oaks and find out it is in the little theatre upstairs with the screen that is the size of the one I have at home.

I know a few people that did that. I just don't get it. A movie like that is meant to be experienced in a theatre.

 Are you doing this on purpose? It's either "movies' glory" or "movie's glory", sir.

"it's" can only be used when you mean to say "it is."

I'm done with you, sir. I've stated the reason why you're wrong in all its glory.

I was able to see re-release of Exorcist my freshman year at UCLA which was nice.

The Holy Grail tomorrow should be a lot of fun for me, but I am really looking forward to seeing Jurassic Park again on the big sceen I remember when I was a kid when I saw that my mind was completely blown chills like crazy it was the very first "summer blockbuster" I have ever seen.

Technically, Swoly is correct. Theoretically, DD is correct. The Glory is in fact referring to "it" so the glory is the possession of "it." I believe it should work in either case, but technically it does not.

^ Note, then, that he didn't mean "it is" initially. SLIDE 17 here: http://sitemaker.umich.edu/slwynn/files/englishrules.ppt
    A kid???

Wow, I just noticed you're seven years younger than I am. I sincerely thought you were older.
    LOL!

I like how you fought it out and now you won't admit you were wrong to begin with, sir.

"Its" is a gender neutral version of her and his. The "its" in this case refers to Avatar. "Its" does not fall under the usual rule of apostrophes showing possession.
