More news on Firefox... Mozilla Firefox browser due in final Mac OS X form in September. Amid a recent dip in the popularity of Microsoft's Internet Explorer attributed to heightened security concerns, the lauded Mozilla Firefox browser is set for its first final, non-beta release in September. The good news: a Mac OS X version will likely be on tap. An eWeek article has a quote from lead engineer Ben Goodger who says "Our target for our 1.0 release is a 'best of breed' browser product on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X, and before we can make that claim, a number of things need to be done."
Well, I wasn't going to post this in a new thread, but since this one's been topped: Four more critical IE vulnerabilites found: <a href="http://secunia.com/advisories/12048/">Here's the Secunia Report on them</a> <a href="http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=17187">the inquirer has a story</a> <a href="http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/07/13/1531240&mode=thread&tid=113&tid=126&tid=172&tid=95">/. reports</a> <a href="http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1623130,00.asp">There are some new IE patches, but it's still got many unpatched vulnerabilities</a>
With Firefox gaining popularity, won't it be a matter of time before it starts to have as much trouble as IE? The reason I'm asking is because I'm thinking of going to the top dogs of my compnay and telling them that everybody should download and install and use Firefox exclusively as the Internet browser. Vengeance, do you think this is a good idea?
I would think you'd still run into too many compatibility issues to consider moving to Firefox in the corporate world. I especially run into a lot of problems on our intranet sites, which were coded to work primarily with IE.
