The Cincinnati freshman and former Lincoln HS star is declaring for the 2010 NBA draft, the Daily News has confirmed. The News has also learned that Stephenson is working toward hiring an agent soon, meaning there would be no turning back on his decision. Stephenson didn't immediately return the News' calls, but the news of him entering his name in the draft was made public on Cincinnati's, 'Gobearcats.com' Web site on Wednesday. "After speaking with Lance and his parents, I fully understand and support his decision to continue his development as a professional," Bearcats head coach Mick Cronin said in an official statement. "Lance is a very determined and hardworking young man and he knows that he has much to learn and must improve as a player. Lance and his family are very aware of the path that lies ahead for him and one thing that I have 100 percent confidence in is that Lance is willing to work as hard as he can to reach his potential. We appreciate his efforts on the floor and in the classroom at UC and wish him all the best as he pursues his goals as a professional." Stephenson had a change of heart from just last month, when the 6-6 guard told the News that he was "definitely" returning to Cincinnati for his sophomore season. "I want to work on a lot of stuff that I need to improve," Stephenson said at the time. "It's not a disappointment thing. It just wasn't my time. I want to be a spectacular NBA player, not average." Stephenson averaged 12.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game for the Bearcats' NIT team this past season. Last month, he was named the Big East Rookie of the Year. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/c...er_lincoln_star_to_declare_for_nba_draft.html
He also helped his team to the championship. John Wall didn't do that with all his blue chip buddies did he?
And he's been a very solid Nba role player. I didn't say Jon was gonna be a superstar. In the second round a team would love to find a role player to help their team. Imo, he could be a better role player then Steve Blake.
He's attitude and charecter definetly doesnt fit our team .. Omar Samhan Is a beassst on the low block to me the draft is too complex and hes a legit solid player to took Saint Mary's as far as anyone can take them .. He should be a first rounder
Very true!!! That guy was like a wild beast out there. So blatant with pushing in the back to assist him in getting a rebound.
That's laughable. Samhan has the jumping ability and lateral quickness of a 52-year-old saleswoman. Sure, he was impressive against a depleted, undersized frontline of Villanova in the 2nd round of the tournament (oh, and let's not forget, he did consistently put up double figures against the likes of Portland, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, etc.), but he wouldn't stand a chance against agile, uber-athletic post players in the league. He'll fit in nicely with Maccabi Tel Aviv for 3-4 years, and then maybe he'll find a nice home on the end of a bench in the NBA.
The Rockets scout at the Final Four already pointed out who their 2nd round sleeper pick is: http://bbs.clutchfans.com/showthread.php?t=185006
Dude I could see Scheyer in a Steve Kerr type spot up shooter type role. Why not? He has Good size and he's a shooter. You would need a serious shot creator to play with him though. OKC Thunder with Durant & Westbrook could be a nice fit. Anyone with a dominant big, but we're stocked full of offensive guys we need shot blocking bigs!
dude we have a kid named Budinger on our team who can shoot it too. And Scheyer does NOT have good size lol. He's undersized and underweight and skinny as hell with an average frame with average athleticism
Wow, for a millionaire Scola's sitting pretty far back from the court. I don't like Zoubek too much he seems like a Sutton 2.0 from last year's Michigan State team. Butler and Hayward are the two I'd like to keep my eyes on, De'Sean even with the injury looks to me as a second round sleeper once he gets back healthy.
I would take a look at Damian Saunders. 6'7 SF, plays good defense, collects 3 blocks and 3 steals a game. Also Kawhi Leonard. 6'7 SF 18 yrs. old, tremendous upside.
Jeremy Lin being ranked #98 is wrong on so many levels. Maybe its better to say he is the 14th ranked point in the country.
Some of you are letting your college loyalty and Duke hate cloud your view on Zoubek. He looks like a solid center. Not an all star or even a star, but a serviceable backup, spot starter who will do everything he needs to do to help a team. Probably have a long career ala Pryzbilla, Longly, Osterbag, etc.
I have narrowed my list down a bit. PG: Mikhail Torrance #62 Matt Bouldin #63 SF: Luke Babbitt #24 Darington Hobson #31 CENTERS: Solomon Alabi #19 Art Parakhouski #51 What do you guys think?
