The Sonics would be out of their mind to try to get anyone on our team but Griff. He's the only player I would trade Rashard for on the Rockets. I don't see anyway they take a deal with Mo Tay and a throw in for him.
Actually the Rockets have done it ... well ... not once but twice. [see: Glenn Rice and Walt Williams]. Rudy T has always had penchant for sweet shooting small fowards. For that reason--and given the fact that Lewis hasn't yet reached his prime--I have a gut-feeling that if given enough carot, Rudy T will bite. Count on it!
There is another option to consider. If Taylor is the player that the Rockets are looking to move, then we should consider what other team might want him & do a 3 way trade. For instance: Washington was reportedly interested in Taylor at one time & they don't currently have a reliable PF. If they still want to move Kwame, then a 3 way deal that sends Kwame to Seattle, Taylor to Washington, & Rashard to Houston might be a possibility. Obviously, that deal would require other considerations to be included, but those would be the main pieces of the agreement. Other teams that might have an interest in Taylor are NY, Orlando, Cleveland, Lakers, & Phoenix, just to name a few.
It is quite possible that the Kandi-man will receive a 1-yr offer from the Clips at $6.1 million and then be unrestricted next year, at which time the dismantling of an exciting young team begins anew. So I'm thinking Olowakandi will be a FA in 03.
Here are the key words rim shot: "overpriced sf who can't do anything but shoot jumpshots." And just so you know, I actually knew we didn't give up any "young stud" for those two, but I let it stand since I figured someone like yourself could grasp the gist of the statement without the qualifier, especially after I did not explicitly state griffin in a trade. At any rate, semantics aside, I wouldn't bet the farm on Rudy not given up Griffin in a deal, if he had to. Rudy has been trying for years to get a more-athletic Matt Bullard.
Do they really have a choice? If Lewis says I will sign with Houston for MCE 1 year or you can except their offer they have a choice of losing him for nothing or getting what we offer. Unless what we offer will really hurt their team I don't think they will let him go for nothing.
I didn't really care about Lewis. I didn't think the Rox need him. But I thought he'd be a nice addition if we could sign him or make a fair trade for him. Now I don't want him on our team, period. After seeing his moronic (is that a word?) behavior, I think his character is comparable to guys like Penny Hardaway. Whichever team gets him will be poisoned by his attitude.
good point that guy could posien our team, like every week he says i not happy with my role on this team. He is gonna be the next pippen watch.
I know Snotty Quitten. Snotty Quitten is NOT a friend of mine... and Lewis, sir, is NO Snotty Quitten! (Sorry for the VP debate reference. )
Hottoddie, I don't think that Washington has any interest in Taylor after his missing the season. Plus, he hurts their cap room for next year, and with Rip Hamilton's questionable contract issues, (on how much he actually counts on the cap next season if he signed another contract) I think they'll stand pat or look for low impact contracts. KT on the other hand they'd take a long look at I think. That having been said, I don't see much of a trade between Washington and the Rockets going down. Hubert Davis is probably the only player on the Wiz that the rockets would use in the season. He'd be a decent backup 2 that can really shoot from behind the arc. The possibility of a 3way trade is interesting though, what is Seatle looking for anyway for Lewis?
Seattle Front Office calls Greenway Plaza Headquarters: "Well Howdy Doody there I hear ya'll is interested in signin 'n tradin 'Shard Lewis onto yer roster.....how bout that Eddie Griffin feller fer 'Shard, whatya say??" Houston Front Office: "AHAhahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahhahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha <click>"
Phoenix Front Office calls Greenway Plaza Headquarters: "Well Howdy Doody there I hear ya'll is interested in getting past Seattle ... how's bout that there fer Orry, and Sam I am, and toss in Mark Bryant and Chucky Brown fer Barkley, whatya say??" Houston Front Office: "Sure, ya'll want a first round pick, too?"
Absolutely pippendagimp, what's Wally Walker smoking?Eddie might very well become be one of the top three or four players in the NBA one day.To my way of thinking,a great chance at becoming the best 4..Changing a game offensively and defensively..With the promise of Ming,we are looking sweet. Yes,we should have drafted Rashard, but these things seem to have a way of working themselves out in Rocketland.Oftentimes questionavble draft decisions are offset by Artful Dodgeresque con jobs orchestrated by CD.
devil's advocate here... griffin probably won't start next year, would lewis? if so, is the the idea of the trade really that far-fetched?
I think so. But I guess you have two different philosophies here. Do you take the sure thing or do you take someone else based on the belief that he will someday be much better than the sure thing? Personally I would stick with Eddie.
Yes. Great things are expected, and likely of Griffin. He is a great natural shot blocker and a good shooter. The only person who expects great things of Rashard Lewis is Rashard Lewis. I'd give Rashard a 50% chance of becoming a dominant (offense and defense) three who will be able to play some 4. I think Eddie has a 75% chance of becoming a dominant 4 who can even play with a lot of the 5s in the league on request. If you say the first type of player is worth 7 out of 10 to you, and the second player is worth 10 out of 10 (and I would), then their values can be calculated as: .5*7 = 3.5 .75*10 = 7.5 I don't see any reason why not to use the same kind of math you should use for betting. You can even give them the same probability of success if you like, but EG still wins in a landslide.
