Rockets SHOULD have done what they did, dude. They won the game. The Rockets are what we thought they were......a great team headed for the playoffs. Are we to feel sorry for the lowly pathetic Seattle SuperColonics because they are missing players and adding to the MIA list with their pg going down with a sprain? You get NO sympathy from Rockets/Rocket fans on this.

And yes, I know the roxs would have won with Luke Bigsour and Gay Allen

    Those announcers are on crack!!

    Jealous old dudes:

you know i figured it out. they kept lamenting on the rockets and their poor playoff perfomances of late. that got me thinking...

wasnt the last playoff series won by the rockets against seattle? if i remember right it was the last team we had beat in a series. after that while the rockets have had some good players come and go seattle went down the crapper losing kemp and then later payton after that year. maybe thats why they are still mad at us

    We're up by 10.....

"...and the Rockets look nothing like a playoff team tonight."

    Sure.

...and the "Houston dodged a bullet" comment was too funny.

    A 4th year rookie???

Anyway I'm not accepted anyone on the bandwagon. I don't wanna hear any announcers(except Jon Barry) talking about how good we are when we make it to the West Finals ;)

Sour grapes for a team that has done nothing since Kemp and Payton disbanded (yeah they made it to the playoffs 2 yrs ago and banished Nate, glad to see them sucking again).

I loved Gene Peterson's call of the hard foul. He called out the Sonic fans for being the worsed in the league b/c they cheered Yao being thrown to the ground and rolling around in pain. What losers, hope the Sonics move out of town.

I may not agree with how the first poster said it, but those announcers WERE awful.

Typically I don't yell at the tv announcers, especially after midnight at my house (Eastern time zone) but I kept shouting "You are such an idiot" just about every time Wilkins spoke.

Yes other than Tracy on offense, we looked lethargic, but dude, we are beating your team.

If he said one more time that Chuck couldn't gaurd Wilcox I was ready to mute the dang tv. Yeah Chuck is smaller than him... but I swear to the great good lord the man must have said it every four or five seconds in the second half. Alright already! We get your point, do you have to say it every offensive possession?? And couldn't the same thing be said about his freaking lover Collison. Yao was basically turning around over him and you were saying the guy was doing a great job on defense.. OYE!

Lord I would rather hear Clyde say the same thing as Bill than listen to that guy. UGH! At least Clyde isn't nasty about the other team.

On the Collison play, he said at first that it was a hard foul, that the kid couldn't be blamed because he was off balance and just trying to stop the shot. Collison used both hands and basically pulled Yao to the ground. That speaks flagrant to me.

Thank goodness yall had this thread for me to vent.. I feel much better now... and sooo glad I won't have to listen to those guys again this year. Bring me Bullard and Clyde man!!

The announcers were bad. But they weren't flat out biased against us. They certainly were b****ing at times.. but then Lenny also gave us credit a lot. He constantly talked about how great Yao is and what tough shots he made. And how Tracy can just rise up over everyone and shoots such pretty fades. Etc.

I think they were just bad and therefore inconsistent

Well, you have to remember that they DO live in Seattle, the suicide capitol of the world.

The local and state governments there are nothing short of socialist regimes, taxes are astronomically high, the cost of living is 4 times what it is here, and it rains every single day.

I don't think it is actually possible to live in Seattle and NOT be a nasty foul creature. :)

I'm was thinking the same thing when I heard this from Lenny f*****g Wilkens. What the hell was he talking about with the body language? Of course they're going to look tire, it's a back 2 back game for them. This guy obviously doesn't need to be color commentating. He needs to come back and coach the Sonics so he can taste some of that a**kickin'.

Glad to see I wasn't the only one screaming at Wilkins in the middle of the nite.

Oh and on that flagrant, Wilkins said it wasn't a flagrant just a hard foul. By rule a flagrant is when you do not go for the ball and that's exactly what collison, who was playing greco roman wrestling with Yao al nite, did. He didn't go for the ball he was just trying to knock Yao down.

He should have been tossed out. I can see your point if he was grabbing Yao's arm as an intent to not let him get a shot off. But Collins grabbed his arm and deliberately threw him to the ground. Yao shoulda 'Carmelo'-ed that fool.

I feel bad for saying this, but it would have given me immense satisfaction to see Yao get up and just bash Collison's face in. Of course, the consequences would be disastrous, but man, it would've been immensely satisfying right there.

Collison should've been thrown out of the game for what he did. That was clear intent to cause bodily arm. A full body slam on a basketball court?

yeah, those guys were awful. It was actually funny listening to them. When the game is pretty much over, they start saying that the Rox won't go anywhere because of games like this? Like what? A win?

they were sore losers for sure

Hmmm...let's see what could Wilkens have against any of the Rockets?? He's praised Yao in the past--even in "The Tao of Yao" so not a YOH... ;)

Remember, back when T-Mac was starting to emerge in Toronto, though? With free agency approaching, the Raptors hired Wilkens to keep McGrady in town and Lenny made every promise to McGrady that he would be featured on the team and not held back...T-Mac bolted anyway. Ever since then it seems, Mr. Sour Grapes has never missed an opportunity to call T-Mac a loser, heartless, etc. and point out that he's never won in the playoffs...coincidence?? I think not

    a) Lenny Wilkins was a decent coach with Seattle. He started riding talent with his stint coaching the Mark Price/Brad Daugherty Cavs (getting punked each postseason), and it was during his stint with the Steve Smith/Mutombo Hawks that he obviously became a wallpaper coach. He couldn't get very much out of Vince (or McGrady --> is this why he was bitter last night?) in Toronto and clearly had a fork in him. Isiah hired him for no good reason, and he could get no respect or effort out of the Knicks.

Wilkins had Rudy's temperament with less emotion. Never got after players which meant he was walked all over in the hip hop era. He also couldn't get teams to find a higher level, which meant marginal development and playoff disasters. Best description might be caretaker.

    b) I find it odd that he was panning the Rockets' playoff chances when they straight up beat Utah IN UTAH. I guess he was trying to just make things easier on the fans - don't worry about this loss guys, they're a bad team and they won't go anywhere...who's daddy's favorite fans? It's YOU!

I'm glad they called that a flagrant. They need to get more strict with calling fouls like that. Basically the criteria needs to be A) If it was intentional B) If there was a large potential for injury. I think the current criteria is something like "unneccesary and excessive contact". Pretty much the same thing but less obscure.

The announcers have to be kidding themselves if they think thats not flagrant. Obviously he wasn't going after the ball, and the fact that he had to drag Yao to the ground was a little bit too much. The guy is over 300 pounds... you don't accidently drag a 300 pound man to the ground.

I thought the announcers were ok. the non Lenny guy reminded me of Calvin with his enthusiasm, which is what probably turned a lot of us on LP off about him. They obviously like the guys on their team, and they let you know about it.
