You guys shouldn't be so harsh on GBranded, it's not his fault a 3 month old topic was bumped up. The funny thing is he only has 1 post in this thread, it's not like he's been flooding this thread with a bunch of nonsense. (If you want to see that, then you can go searching the fantasy forum for the most recent bit of BS...the fantasy dwellers know what I'm talking about... ) You have to admit that some Rockets fans are slightly delusional as well, saying Steve Francis is currently better than Allen Iverson despite Iverson carrying his team to the finals is an example that comes to mind. In the West, Philly is more than likely a lottery team like the Rockets were this year. And there's no way they make the finals from the west. As for Iverson vs. Francis, look at it this way. Both are fabulous athletes with amazing quickness and speed. Iverson scores more PPG but shoots .420 compared to Francis' .451. If Francis' goal was to hoist up as many shots a game as he physically could or to lead the league in scoring, don't you think he could sacrifice his shooting % a few points to score more? Iverson is better than Francis at creating his own shot, but is not as accurate an outside shooter as Stevie. Francis gets the edge in intangibles as well: Iverson is a notorious whiner who can't coexist with teammates who actually enjoy shooting the ball once in a blue moon (Stackhouse, Larry Hughes, Kukoc). Hell, Iverson was nearly traded this past offseason because of his horrible attitude problem. He seems to have matured somewhat, but I'm not 100 % sold on that yet. He seems like the kind of guy who won't be happy unless he is allowed to jack up 30-35 shots a game. Thank the Good Lord Francis is not so selfish and such a ballhog. I think he'll evolve into a player who is better than Iverson is right now, if Steve isn't better already. As for the original thread, if the 99 Draft were held today, Francis would be the #1 pick more than likely, with Brand going either #2 or #3 behind Baron Davis. ------------------ Get Cato out of there...

Steve Francis shouldn't have won it either, but I can't see how you could argue the media wasn't biased. Did you watch the Sixers this year? They were a team that capitalized on a weak conference, and actually didn't even have the best record in the NBA. You saw what happened when the Rockets went to Philly-- they won by 25. The Sixers were a good team, but did they deserve to have the MVP, Coach of the Year, Sixth Man of the Year, and the Defensive Player of the year. No team that I recall has dominated the awards like the Sixers did this year, and there's no doubt that there have been much better team than the Sixers in the past years. ------------------ Draftsource.net-- the premier source for draft info.
