I've done some long hard thinking here...I'm going to keep Ricks. Unless I get a phenomenal deal for any of my guys, I'm going to stop trading away young talent.
Long hard thinking eh? Or just one helpful post from haven. You know its funny, I can tell you something for a long time, and it wont matter. But when haven tells you something, right away it makes a significant impact on you. Wierd.
Actually, Nomar, I talked to a couple of people including haven last night in chat about my team. It was DVauthrin that suggested that I move Luke Hudson from the rotation to the bullpen because Hudson has a "*" for stamina as a starter compared to a "C" for stamina as a reliever. That opened a spot in my rotation for Ricks. The frustrating thing is that I have been in this sim now for the last 6 or 7 seasons, and I haven't done ****. Looking back at my draft choices over the last 6 to 7 seasons, they are all gone playing for other teams. I really believe that if I got just one outstanding power hitter like a Borchard or Manny Ramirez, etc. that could hit 50 or more homers and drive in an insane amount of runs that I could win the AL West, but after a year or two, it would be a bad investment for me...which I have made plenty in the past. You can believe what you want about me...I can't control that. However, haven has said to me several other times not to trade young players & I ignored him. And yes I'm grateful to you for asking me to join, but I guess I feel that I need to do something with my team like make the playoffs before I start doing stupid deals again. If that makes me a "sheep", then I guess I am one.
Just ignore Nomar, Manny. He seems to be of the opinion that, unless you are named BandGeekMobster or haven, you are completely incapable of your own thought.
Thats not what I was saying. I just dont understand why my advice is ignored, but the same advice from somebody else is cherished. I emailed you Manny, several seasons ago, because you wanted to know what you should do. I told you to get rid of your veterans, and try to stock up on young talent. But you did the opposite. haven makes a comment, and it completely changes your entire strategy for this game. Amazing. Don't tell me that its because only haven knows how to play this game, because obviously we have had other champions. Whatever, its not like it matters anyway.
I am putting 2B/SS Joe Thurston on the block. He's a good hitter, plays fabulous defense (A at both 2B and SS), brilliant at avoiding strikeouts, good at hitting doubles, etc. He makes seven million per season, and is signed for four more years. However, because I have A-Rod, I really can't afford him, Rivas, and Alex all on one team, so I'm looking at dealing Thurston for a prospect hitter or pitcher. Let me know if you're interested...
Zac, do you like Tavarez? I'd swap him for Cyclone straight up. I could even throw in another solid player. For one of my other starters, it would take a bigger deal.
I'm certainly not anti-Tavarez, and I'd also be interested to know what other solid player you'd throw in. This, of course, is also intriguing and I'd like to know what the bigger deal is that you'd have in mind.
No reason to get upset. Manny wanted to win. No harm in that. However, he's only 1-2 years away now, nomar... not 5-6... so he has a little more patience now. Everyone is right, nobody is wrong !
Ok I have alot of OF for some reason the game drafts alot for me some are very good but i dont have room for them, so check in my Top prospects or my ratings page for my OF
Take your pick. Some options include Cresse, Castillo, Zuleta, Vickers... or a prospect pitcher like Choe, Sanders, or Gould. We can talk this one over in chat, if you like. Not sure exactly what the bigger deal would be, but we could work something out.
Still plenty of SP and RP available. I'd like to trade at least 1 of each for some prospect pitching. Also, OF's Rick Asadoorian or Duffy Wentzel may be available for the right offer. I either need prospect pitching, or a good young 3B or C. They have to be the same age or younger than the person you are trading them for. Wentzel would probably be tougher to get.
Well, in addition to Thurston, Daryle Ward is on the block for cheap players. (prospects or cheap contract) If my team is going to suck, I don't need to be losing money too. Albert Pujols and Darin Erstad could also be had, but it would take a really good prospect for one of them.
EXTREMELY good players available: Esteban German - gpb player, A in speed and stealing, A in defense at 2b, C at SS, and B at CF. Also has a brilliant in doubles and triples. Currently batting .299 with a .419 OBP and a .499 slugging %. 11 stolen bases, not caught once. Once had 69 stolen bases in a single season. Only 30. Nick Johnson - GGG player... 7/8/7 ratings. Only 31. Even in a down-season, has an OBP above .400! He's loyal with a very reasonable 5.5m contract through 2015. Career batting average of .313, OBP .404, and slugging .503. Tim Raines Jr. - gfg player, 6/3/8 ratings. Batitng .286 with a .362 OBP (bad ofr him) with .452 slugging. A in speed, B in stealing, can play all OF positions (CBC). Only 29 with a cheap contract. Alex Graman gaf pitcher, only 30. Last year was the only year he got to start for me, and had a 3.67 ERA in 120 innings. Death to lefties. Only 30 Jose Rosado - G/A/A pitcher... He's been injured most of this year, but had a 3.88 ERA in 218 innings with a 17-6 record last year. I've benched him for an excellent prospect pitcher, so he needs to go. He's 34, so still has 4 years or so left. Excellent contract under 3m. Cristian Parra ggg pitcher, Career 4.16 ERA, 86-25 record... has excellent ratings across the board, only 29. Very reasonable contract of 4.5m. I have MOUNTAINS of excellent relievers/reliever prospects to cushion any deals... and Kelly Johnson would be available for the right package. Dealing certain of these players would preclude dealing others of them. For instance, I'm *not* going to deal KJ and German. So, what do I want? Fabulous prospects. No old talent. I've already got tons of that. Rebuilding has been an unqualified success. The Astros will never experience a losing season... and I have no need areas. However, the surprisingly quick nature of my rebuilding has left me with some very quality players who I expected to need in transition. I might be willing to package a couple of these guys for one uber-prospect. So, step right up... some of these guys are all-stars.
I am looking to package a combination of these guys + possibly other minor prospects or vets or cash for a stud pitching prospect: T. Hoyt 26 C Good Good Good D E C M. Villilo 27 3B Good Good Average E D C B. Madson 25 LF Good Fair Average D C C G. Sizemore 26 LF Good Fair Brilliant E C C S. Villicana 25 SP Average Average Brilliant Good C C. Heinsohn 27 SP Average Good Average Average A Lmk if interested.
Hey Castor, I was looking at last season's trade discussion thread, and I wanted to ask you if J.D. Drew is still available. Is J.D. Drew still available?
nah Zac I scrapped plans for a major overhaul when i found out i was moving to the AL Right now I am really looking for a better 3B but i cannot take on any salary til after the season.
Still looking to move some players... Darin Erstad, Joe Thurston, Albert Pujols, etc... I need to cut some salary. If you have interest in any of these players or others (not named Redding, Penley, A-Rod, or Roberto), talk to me, and we might can work something out. I need either prospects or cheaper contracts in return.
