He is not bad. The rebounding translated. I don't think it's that problem. He is not defined as a clear 3 or 4. He is not one of those tweeners that can straight out play. Massively undersized or just not too quick.
Correct. He is a bit of a fouling machine. But still he has a much better chance to make an impact for a team over Omar Samahan and Greg Smith.
..and if any coaches are reading this, I'll give you this info for free, work him hard but respect him, gain his confidence as a good coach, tell him you believe in his abilities, and act like it, be straight up with him and Sean will take your team where ever you want to go. Believe in him... take it for what it's worth..
We got Jeff Adrien coming in on a partially guaranteed money so Smith is probably out of the mix anyway. Might as well cut Lin as well because he is so far out of the mix that he does not matter either. I think you have to keep Hasheem at this point. A bigman mix of JHill, JAdrien,PPatt, HThabeet, S.Williams and OMars would be solid practice work and Omar still gets cut when it comes down to your 15 man roster. I see it like we have to bring in as many bigs as possible and may the best man win/play.
Guys, I have a pretty strong feeling that, absent a trade or a significant signing, the Rockets' fifth big will not be Greg Smith, and it will not be Sean Williams. It will be Jeff Adrien. Apparently, Adrien has a small partial guarantee for this season. He left his team in Europe to come over here. After he tore up the D-League for the RGV Vipers, the Rockets considered adding him during last season, but the Warriors nabbed him first. I would not be the least bit surprised if Adrien was the third string PF/C for this team. Even though he's only 6'7", he's one of those "big butt" guys like Chuck Hayes with a low center of gravity and who can get position and box out for rebounds. The only reason he didn't play last night was because he just got to training camp. I think we'll see a bit of him tomorrow night. (As for Greg Smith, I think he'll get an invite to play for the Vipers rather than making the Rockets' squad and being sent down there.)
I'm hoping Greg Smith sticks around a little longer. Williams needed to present to his Israeli team a NBA contract before he could invoke the clause in his contract. Anyhow, aren't all training camp contracts partially guaranteed?
Out of adrien smith samhan I would rather have Sean Williams he can play wasn't he in the rookie sophomore game not that long ago
So are a lot of guys that get minutes in the NBA... I can think of several, several players that don't have the ability that Mike Harris has.
Yeah, I kinda figured that's where he was heading. He played for Dallas's D-League squad, and there was talk of the Mavs adding him last year. This is pretty much the equivalent of the Rockets signing of Jeff Adrien: Killed it for their D-League affiliate last season. Knows the system. Worth bringing in as extra depth.
Something Carroll Dawson never had to deal with -- being the third most desireable NBA location in Texas. The Mavericks were absolute crap in the 90's. I'm not saying Sean Williams is all that -- I don't even know if the Rockets were interested -- but with Morey as shrewd as he is in spending... why would any player choose Houston over Dallas right now if the money/years are the same?
