He got his 3rd start and blocked 8 shots as a rookie. Dude is averaging 1.9 blocks per game in just 19 minutes of action. Wish we could have drafted him, he was working out in Houston with John Lucas and everything. Too bad he went 17th. All I can say is that's impressive.
Funny I remember saying we should move up in the draft and take this kid and everyone laughed at him and his lettuce addiction.
I posted about him earlier this season. The 2-3 times I've seen him so far he looks like a keeper. His ceiling will be limited only by how hard he works.
He will end up being a Ben Wallace type with better athleticism and ability to dunk. His offensive game is pretty much non-existent so unless he develops a post up game, he is going to be a defensive specialist. Still the kid is a great asset to have on your team at 6-10 and nasty jumping ability. I would have loved to see him play next to Yao and defend the paint against all those guards who have no respect for our center.
8 blocks?!! if it was the preseason and we had drafted him, he would be getting a 50 million dollar contract right now.
Blocked shots look cool and all, but point guar....ehh whatever I can't defend our pick this year until he plays. For now Sean Williams will be the badass defender that we didn't trade up for.
I wanted this guy in the draft. Was disapointed when th Nets took him, as figured with his so-called "baggage" that he might be a chance to be available at #28. good for him. that is a woeful team over there in Jersey though...even though it feels kinda redundant calling them that when we're a 500 team, and about to get worse.
