My fellow BBS'ers, Let's say, not-so-hypothetically, I am about to celebrate my 10th wedding anniversary and my wife and I have decided on seafood. She seems really smitten on finding some good gumbo. Long ago, I used to go to Babin's (gumbo, blackened fish), but that was then. They have, what? One location now, anyway? And have gone downhill at that. Obviously I'll be Googling to see what there is but ya'll probably know of some good places. Pappadeaux looks expensive but is it any good? Etcetera.
Depends on what you want. Do you want a chain? Then go to Pappadeaux but it will cost you close to what a nice non chain costs you. Good Co. Seafood is less expensive and has solid gumbo. Honestly Tampico Seafood is better than any chain. It just doesn’t have the same ambiance.
Captain Tom’s on 1960 near Jones Rd was great for that kind of stuff when I lived there. Great stuffed crab. It’s a dive though, so probably not want you want for your anniversary.
Crabcakes are my favorite thing in the world...along with scallops and sushi and such. The key is lots of crab and minimal filler.
Uh...wtf is wrong with you? grilled fillets of fish boiled things of shellfish fried? things of whatever
Respect. They ain't wrong they just different but his pride won't let him do things that he thinks is right
Bayou City Seafood and Pasta Richmond @ 610 - just moved into new space. Gumbo, on point as is most all of the menu.
Its still a dive but great fried shrimp and gumbo......the problem is when you leave you reek of fired grease......but its good
