When I saw the thread title, I thought TJ was offering his autobiography. (sigh) Just another BS article from the office of Karl Rove.

Whoa Nelly! We have a problem then because I feel morally superior on those issues too...

Does anybody not feel that when they argue their side that they are arguing the g-o-o-d side?

This thread is excellent... like marvelling at a magnificent house of cards... except instead of cards someone used turds.

    The work of trial lawyers:

    Lawsuit Claims Stripper was 'Reckless'
A Vancouver strip club has been sued for unspecified damages by a Canadian man, claiming he was kicked in the face by a "reckless" exotic dancer.

Greg Bonnett claims the Barnet Motor Inn failed to post the appropriate signs warning customers of the risk of sitting too close to the stage. Bonnetts lawsuit also seeks damages from exotic dancer, "Jane Doe," for allegedly "dancing in a negligent and reckless manner."

According to Bonnetts lawsuit, his nose was fractured when the female dancer swung around a pole and kicked him.

Let that be a lesson to you, dude. Next time you're out looking for dates, sit a bit farther from the stage than you'd normally be inclined to do.

A cage full of monkeys, flinging poo. Only trouble is, T_J is using hamster poo, and is severely outgunned....as usual.

Can we please have some moderation here?

Sometimes Trial lawyers are puss filled blood suckers who ruin the intergrity of the justice system (as if it wasn't already slightly tarnished).

And other times, there is a legitamite claim; although the exorbitant payments that are forced upon some of these companies really bewilders me.

    1) Companies that have a bottom line in the BILLIONS will not change the way they act for a few $1,000,000 settlements

    2) Many many many of the wrongs are never identified, or do not have enough evidence to be taken to court. Companies know this, so unless the punitive damages (when caught) are material, again they will not change the way that they operate.

There is a function called Risk Management in corporations. They will calculate the odds of something going wrong and the resultant costs to the corporation. If the penalty when caught is not severe enough...

Am FWIW, I have an MBA ... am not anti-Corporation at all. I'm just telling it like it is.

TJ, you claim to hate these trial lawyers and lawsuits, but both Mulder and I have posted two different law suits by Bush himself using trial lawyers. I'm waiting on you to condemn Bush, the wealthy priviledged man who sued Enterprise over a fender bender, and a political group. TJ, you haven't responded to these wasteful lawsuits. When are you going to speak up against our President for doing these things?

The problem is it can be accurately debated that trial lawyers maximize the monetary instability of the overall economy by their greed and these few merit-filled cases are few and far between as it compares to the unlimited greed that is not good on behalf of the trial laywers such as Edwards and a vast majority of his ilk...

Putting a ceiling on awards is something that will affect the heavy pockets of trial lawyers, while still providing a reward or punishment of reasonable effect...

If you have the ability to pay, like a large corporation, then the trial lawyers won't be targeting you for millions. They'll be targeting you for BILLIONS. And if you don't think frivolous lawsuits affect corporations in meaningful negative ways, then I simply don't know what to tell you. Not only do you have an army of lawyers to protect against extortion campaigns like what Edwards is famous for, but you also have the wasted time and resources of personnel as well as the fear of innovation for fear of getting your pants sued off.
