Customers are pretty furious with united right now. They changed their award charts, blocked expert flyer, and started charging for most drinks in the lounges.
United has completely destroyed Continental's rep. Jesus. Long story short, I flew into Denver from Japan to catch a connecting flight to Houston. Pretty much they cancelled the flight to Houston because they tried to use parts of the airplane I was going to Houston in on another and it ended up malfunctioning both planes. They charged me to get a taxi for the hotel, and the hotel looked like something you see from a horror film. On another note, all those Continental/United flights are always delayed or cancelled because 10 flights cancelled that day. Fecking twits. I'm avoiding Continental/United as much as I can if I was flying out of Houston.
What would be the best American airline company to travel in domestically? I'm kind of curious about that since literally all the companies are terrible.
I like southwest because 1) very friendly staff 2) most comfortable/larger seats (at least compared to united) 3) line up system to board the plane, I LOVE THIS, don't have to deal with old, douchy businessmen who enjoy shoving children and families to the ground to get a better spot in line
Houston for half a year and Dallas for the other half. Southwest is my go to for domestic right now, it's not that bad. Only thing I don't like Southwest is the lack of international, which is becoming more frequent for me. Other than that, it's fine.
You are tailor made for Southwest. For international, UA & AA are obvious choices, especially for southbound.
United totally redid its frequent flyer program to be based on dollars instead of miles. Good for people that buy last minute and/or first class tickets bad for everyone else.
I've never flown in United before... but from reading the comments, it seems like they have the equivalent of Milk Hair running the show ever there.
My lil sister had an interview at Chicago flying from South Carolina on Monday at about 2:00 PM. Flight was scheduled to leave at 6:30 AM/arrive at 1050...And approx at 1150pm(about 6.5 hours before the flight), United sends her a cancellation of her flight and reschedules it for 6:00 pm departure and 10 pm arrival...
Flights get delayed/rescheduled/canceled often enough that if someone has an important event to attend, it is best to plan to arrive the day before rather than 3 hours before.
Hm I'm somewhat against this. Lack of competition is why the above happens. I used to fly frequently for work and often the flight would land hours before the important meeting, project, etc. I never had issues when I was overseas; the problems were here at home. There are so few choices for the consumer in America (like ISPs, cell phone service, etc.) that it's become the norm to accept the mediocre standards instead of getting better service. International carriers' better planes, friendlier/cuter flight attendants, cleaner lounges, and lack of delays and cancellations shows it's the tacit acceptance of consumers and/or voters that let domestic airlines keep the status quo.
No way. The earliest I show up for a flight is an hour for domestic and 1.45 hr for international. Anything longer is sheer madness at the airport.
I don't think anyone is "for" this, but it happens. So, how do you reasonably suggest that things get changed?
