Last united round trip was fairly good on flight attendants. First flight and changeover had excellant service. Attendant even got off plane to help at LAX due to crappy scheduling. I don't care what attendants look like as long as its good service. Hell a couple were dudes but super cool. Flight attendants coming home were average to below.
My bad, meant China. Japan can be a bit cheaper in off-peak on American. Otherwise they are the same cost during peak season.
Just checked in for my United flight later this afternoon from DCA to IAH, and as a United 1K customer, I'm still only #9 on the upgrade standby list!
Been flying a lot lately. Agree that flying united is easily the most irritating. But the miles are also the most handy (IMO as a houston resident). The trick is the fly lufthansa or turkish and get the miles via star alliance. Actually, I was on the plane in the news yesterday that had to divert from IAH to EWR. United had it all sorted out for us before we even landed. I was rather impressed. EWR, however, is still one of the ****tiest airports in the world.
lol ewr is my home airport right now, and i love it. i guess being subjected to jfk gives you a greater appreciation for decent airports...
lol im just a silver this year... im between 40 and 50 on the list for a phl-iah this evening hahah. my only upgrade this year was on a dreamliner from iah-ewr. was such an awesome trip.
You haven't seen the compiled list of all of your black threads/posts? Sorry I just assumed that is what happened.
sometimes it's best to not try to dig out of your unfunny joke by trying to make another joke. just makes you look even unfunnier and incapable of putting together a decent joke or even insult.
Lol, I've never flown United, but my uncle's partner was a flight attendant and worked for the airline for like 10+ years, he is super sarcastic, and doesn't like groups of more than 5 people...so I can only imagine the rest of the attendants are just as pleasant...
Shiiiiit, maaaaan. That honky muf' be messin' mah old lady... got to be runnin' cold upside down his head, you know?
I live in Minneapolis so I am largely at the mercy of Delta. When Northwest still existed we used to call it "Northworst" until we started having to fly Delta we didn't realize what bad service was. Still United is makes Delta look good. The service and quality of planes always seems worse on United than Delta. Also the rewards are less rewarding on United. The last time I used a free reward ticket on United just to fly domestic it still cost me $120 in fees. While on the subject USAir also sucks. We have really forgotten what service is like for example two weeks ago I flew on Dragon Air (Cathay Pacific subsidiary) from Wuhan to Hong Kong. It was an hour and a half flight but they still got two drink services and a hot meal. Plus the flight attendants were a lot easier on the eyes.
must be nice haha. economy plus is my jam lol. on a 3 hour + delay right now thanks to that weather in chicago...
While United is bad, US Airways is BY FAR the worst. Try 12 hour layovers in Philly when they messed up your connection (and no compensation of course), or giving away someone's' seat to standby customers because they mistakenly thought the person wasn't at the gate.
This is basically where I end up, too. All US airlines suck, some more than others. All of their international first class offerings suck relative to international carriers. That's just the way it is. United does its job most of the time and offers me a decent rewards program. There are far too many elites but as you mention they will start disappearing and in a couple of years it will be back to where it used to be on Continental five years ago or so and those of us who are left should benefit nicely. As much as I now fly United I used to fly American. I realize that this is totally anecdotal but those clowns used to lose my baggage all the time. It was amazing. I recall once arriving two hours early for a domestic flight that was delayed two hours. They had four hours to get my bag from check-in to the plane. Did my bag make it? Nope.
I believe FlyerTalk would be a better place to ask this kind of question. Some of the members there have extensive knowledge and experience to truly discuss this topic. The domestic airline market reminds me of another area which I think the US lags far behind in. The choices are few; most of them are mediocre and inferior to the ones abroad IMO. Like the limited number of ISPs, cell phone companies, or TV providers, the consumer really gets the short end of the stick in the US. I flew on a Japanese carrier (All Nippon Airways) and a Middle Eastern one (Qatar Airways) recently...the new planes, their level of service, gorgeous flight attendants, hassle-free check-in, the airports they flew out of, etc. I was disheartened when I sat on the United flight to Houston. I wish I knew more about this issue. Something tells me a lot of consolidation and special interests in politics played a big role in why domestic carriers suck versus their overseas counterparts.
